You can stay in a self contained apartment of our Brooklyn Brownstone. The house was built in 1898 and has lots of beautiful original details. Our decked outdoor area (shared) is a wonderful place to relax. Free WiFi and Coffee included.

The space

Ground floor apartment (not the basement) of our Brooklyn brownstone/townhouse. The house was built in 1898 and has lots of beautiful original details. Free WiFi included as well as Coffee/tea with a Keurig Platinum Brewing system.

Guests may also use our beautiful decked garden area with a bamboo wall, couches and an outdoor fireplace table. We live in the house upstairs and generally leave guests to themselves, but the garden is shared with us.

The apartment has one large bedroom with a Queen size bed and a twin size daybed that also has a trundle bed underneath. Both are beautiful Restoration Hardware furniture pieces. The small bedroom is really just for sleeping and has a twin size bed and another pull-out twin size bed trundle underneath. Please see photos.

For guests staying during the hot summer months (July/August), we have a standalone air conditioner in the main bedroom, but there is no AC in the small bedroom or the kitchen. It's generally just fine with the fans we have, but if you are very sensitive to heat and need the room cold, then this may not be the best place in the summer.

In the extension, there is also a treadmill if you like to run. We generally prefer to run in Prospect Park around the corner.

A few blocks to Prospect Park with beautiful walks, great for jogging or cycling. The Audubon Center is right there by the Lake with Boat Rides and many playgrounds for children. At the Prospect Park tennis center, there are always courts available by the hour. Prospect park also hosts the famous Drummers Circle and New York's large farmers market on weekends.

Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanical Garden, Brooklyn Zoo, and the Brooklyn Public Library are all within a 15 minute walk. 20 minutes by subway to Manhattan.

Children 10 and older are welcome.

The kitchen has a 4 ring Wolf gas stovetop, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, kettle and all the utensils needed. The smart TV has lots of cable channels as well as netflix, amazon prime, etc.

No smoking anywhere inside or in the garden, no parties, and no guests other than the guests on the reservation.

Guest access

high speed Fios Wifi
outside decked garden
smart TV
fully equipped kitchen
free coffee and Keurig coffee maker
towels, sheets, soap, shampoo, conditioner are all included.

Interaction with guests

We live in the same house upstairs, but this apartment is private with its own entrance, kitchen, bathroom. We generally leave our guests alone, but are always there if there is anything. The garden is shared.

Other things to note

We are a photographer and painter, and many of our artwork pieces are on the walls in the apartment. We live upstairs with our 2 teenage kids and 2 labrador retriever dogs.

Beautiful location minutes from Prospect Park. Andre and Sylvia were very accommodating and the apartment was full of character. The front garden was full of roses and the back garden was quite unbelievable ... the gas fire was the icing on the cake. Highly recommend, wonderful neighbourhood, great hosts.

I highly recommend Sylvia's place to stay. It has plenty of room, it's ultra cute with lovely features and paintings, as you can see from the pics and has everything you need. Plus the hosts are accommodating and helpful. The house is on a quaint street and walking distance to the subway. I could live here!

The hosts were very welcoming and supportive throughout our stay. They helped to give us information about the area. The street is quiet and people were really friendly. The shower was fab. We didn't realize, from the initial information that the flat was on the ground floor, level with the street.

Andre and Silvia were courteous and replied all my messages. The house is spacious. However, it was a quite dirty, which made us feel a bit uncomfortable. We couldn't use the backyard at all because it was very dirty.

Response from Andre:
we always put a lot of time and effort into keeping the apartment and garden clean and perfect. We do have grapes in the garden and they do drop to the ground as well as some leaves, but other than that it's always kept clean. We are surprised at the review, and would have loved to address any issue during Loly's stay. We do ask every guest after checkin and throghout their stay if there is anything we should address, or to make the stay better. Loly alwasy just said that everything was perfect. We certainly would have fixed any issue immediately.

Andre was very helpful and replied all my messages in a timely manner. We had a few mishaps that he promptly fixed. He was a great host and I'd recommend the place. We had a family trip with my nephews and they enjoyed the Brooklyn Museum and the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, both of which are within walking distance from Andre's place.

We stayed at Andre's place because it was right around the corner from where our daughter lives. The location, especially really close to the Prospect Park subway station, was the BEST. You cannot beat that. We mostly used the beautiful ground floor apartment to sleep because we were out and about all the long Memorial Day Weekend. The only thing that might be a helpful "tip" would be to say that the owners are upstairs and you can tell (and I assume vice versa). We did not mind at all, and I would definitely stay there again, and highly recommend it to others. Thank you for helping make our stay so enjoyable!
