The neighbourhood

Leafy suburb. Proximity (one block) to the New Farm Park and the Brisbane Powerhouse. Minutes from Fortitude Valley (entertainment precinct) and the City. Ease of public transport. Free street car park. Methyr Road Shopping Centre within walking distance (2 blocks) with pharmacy, great Italian Deli, Coffe shops, medical centre, optician, banks (Suncorp and Commonwealth), Coles supermarket, news agent, bakery.
Fantastic French bakery (Chouquette) 4 blocks away.
New Farm 6 Cinemas and Palace Centro theatres
Great fashion shopping on James Street
Our unit is located in a leafy suburb, very close to the city heart. It is very quiet yet you can ride a bicycle to the city along the river without crossing a road. You can rent city bikes by the hour or per day just downstairs. The park is one block away. The Powerhouse - a cultural complex with theatre, exhibition gallery, concert hall, coffee shop overlooking the river 5 mn walk through the park. There is a market on Saturdays in front of the Powerhouse in the park. You can take a ferry on the river that takes you to Southbank, a big park in the city centre with a huge swimming pool that looks like a beach.
Activities for kids in Brisbane are endless. You will note that services to entertain the people are very developed in Australia and Brisbane is dubbed the most livable city in Australia. New Farm, where the apartment is located is the 'Italian' suburb of Brisbane. Just walk to the New Farm Deli and you won't miss any of the great Italian products you find in Europe. It is my preferred shop.

Getting around

Ferry, buses, Uber.
Bus station one block away. Ferry station from the New Farm Park, just 3 mn walk across the park. You can rent a city bike at the bike rack downstairs. Taxi and Uber.

Other things to note

The unit is stocked with bedsheets, towels, washing powder, tea, coffee, spices etc..
You will find a bottle of milk, fresh butter and preserve in the fridge upon arrival.
As we might no be there between guests, please replace what you use to make the experience for the next guests as peasant as possible.

Please note that Parkleigh is a residential building and any noise must be kept down after 9.30pm. We would ask you to be mindful of the neighbours. The lady downstairs is particularly sensitive to noise and had been trouble in the past, calling the building manager or the police at any non-respect of the by-laws.
But as long as you respect our house rules (no party, no noise in the late evening, maximum occupancy is 4, no smoking in the bedrooms, no hanging clothes on the balcony, no inflatable toys in the swimming pool, and taking the rubbish to the right place (one spot for the recycle - one spot for the general waste) there will be no issue.
The parking spots on Parkleigh premises are reserved for visitors - you are considered residents - an prams and strolls cannot be left in the building hall.

New Farm and the appartment are the perfect fit to explore Brisbane. A nice neighborhood, playground nearby, grocery shopping just a short walk as well as the ferry (the best and nicest way to get around) just a 10Minute stroll. The communication with the hosts is uncomplicated and fast. Be aware that the damping is not that well and the neighbor not well used to kids living in the appartment. But it was always a friendly talk:)

Excellent location- walk to shops, coffee, great deli, cafes and bars, newfarm park and ferry. Newfarm park has great playground and links to great walking/ running track along river. Ferry to southbank/ city is easy. Communication with owner easy even when they are overseas. Very helpful- organised for cleaner to be at apartment for delivery/ pick up of hired baby equipment. Lots of stairs so difficult with prams etc. Small tv and no dvd player. Great deck/ outside room where we spent most of our time. Overall really convenient place to stay

Jacques' apartment is in a great location, close to New Farm park, the shops at Merthyr Village and public transport into the city. Although we didn't meet Jacques he was easy to get hold of and his friend Jennifer was very helpful in showing us where everything was. There's a lovely outside balcony and everything you need to make a home from home.

A beautiful unit, relaxing, quiet, with the cool balcony and near to the good restaurants and public transports. We had an amazing time there. Every thing we needed was available at the unit. The place was clean and tidy. And the hi light of this place is the friendly host. Julie thank you so much for every thing. Hope to have another chance to stay at your place again.

Jennifer met us & showed us around which was great - lovely lady! Appt was perfect for us & our 8 year old daughter. When we were in we loved to hang out on the balcony or at the pool. Air con in the main bedroom was a god send - there are no other fans or air con in the appt & it was super hot during our stay. There are lovely breezes that come through the place, but when it's 35degrees & 80%humidty - only air con will help lol!! We would gladly recommend & return at another time, great position, great communication & great place :)

European styled apartment in a fabulous part of New Farm. Close to public transport and many bars, resturants and of course New Farm Park and the Powerhouse. Our favorite parts were the pool area with waterfall, proximity to everything and the fresh river breeze that cools everything day and night.
