The space
WELCOM
My treat and treasure, this Riad has been growing and blooming for the past 25 years, putting in by bits and pieces all my love and passion for local artisan and craft work, flea markets, culinary delights and local treats, collecting objects and furniture, re-creating and renovating and putting everything together to create a unique home away from home, which allows you an experience away from tourism and vacation “stress". the Riad is only a few steps away from local life, my former home and escape, now to be shared with friends and world travelers passing by, design lovers, creatives, foodies and adventurers – an oasis of space and chilling out in the middle of a mingling local area in the ancient medina of Marrakech.
WHERE YOU CAN FIND US:
In love with the eastern part of the medina, which remains the most authentic quarter with little tourism and only few guest houses, this part of the Marrakech Medina made it the perfect spot to set up this shelter and to experience colorful street markets, surrounded by the real buzzing local everyday life. a 15-20min walk takes you to the main square JEMA EL FNAA, passing through the colorful labyrinth of the souks.
THE SPACE
The total surface of about 280m2 offers a patio with a dip-in and refreshing pool of 4m x 2m, living & dining room, open kitchen, chill out balcony on the 1st floor with view into the patio, 3 optional bedrooms, of which each has its own bathroom & WC. for any special room request please leave a note in your booking. the top floor is featuring a big roof terrace for sun bathing and a chimney corner for cozy nights. in hot summer nights we set up a bed under the stars.*
OCCUPANCY
Our price policy is set per person with a minimum of 2 guests, for every extra guest from 3-6 we do charge a supplement per night, so please always state the number of guests in your request. Only children yonger than 3 years old would be free of charge, all children from 3y-18y do pay the full price. We have decided to establish this system, in order to give couples or smaller groups the opportunity to enjoy the Riad in privacy without having to pay the rate for a full occupancy of 6 guests.
THE ROOMS
You are having all 3 bedrooms available. room A on the ground floor is the smallest but also the most quiet room, situated on the backside, as well as the coolest room in the summer, equipped with a fan (no AC, for those guests who do not wish the use of AC). Rooms B and C are situated on the 1st floor. facing the street, room C can be exposed to occasional street noise, as we live in a lively & local neighborhood. It dies have double glass windows, but in case you are very sensitive to noise or a light sleeper, we recommend any of the other 2 rooms.
THE SERVICE
The space is listed only on AIRBNB, which in its original purpose offers a platform of private spaces for rent. a lot of people tend to forget this, so here a small reminder, that LA MAISON is a private house and not a fully serviced BED AND BREAKFAST RIAD or GUEST HOUSE. You are always having the Riad in privacy.
In order to make things more comfortable and easy for you, LA MAISON is being partly serviced, our bonus in the package. Breakfast and cleaning are included, our caretaker comes daily from 8.00-15.00 to make breakfast at whatever time you wish, cleaning the rooms and main areas, and she supplies you with everything you need. Please just ask her whatever seems to be missing or to be replaced. in the evening our staff comes in at sunset hour to light the candles.
Bed sheets and towels are supplied, a hairdryer is available.
DINNER
We offer a service for homecooked dinners in the Riad on demand. our 3 course menu is at 27€ / 295 dh per person, not including beverages. we adapt our offer to your eventual diets. payments are to be made in cash only, either Dirhams or Euros. Please send us an advance notice for any dinner requests.
THE KITCHEN
The kitchen is the central spot of our culinary happenings, where our breakfasts & dinners are made by our staff. it is a small but open space, accessible for our guests to use the ammenities during their stay. if you are cooking dinner, we would just kindly ask you to leave the kitchen in a clean state, so the staff coming in the morning can directly proceed to prepare your breakfast.
WATER & BEVERAGES
The local tab water is not recommended as portable, though locals do consume it without any issue. Travelers from abroad might have unwanted reactions to the local bacteria. For your comfort we do have a water supply available as well as a small stock of wine and beer. The costs for water and beverages would have to be paid to our staff before your departure, preferably in cash. However, feel free to bring in your own water supplies or beverages of any kind.
SHUTTLE
A pick-up from the airport or local station can be arranged. We are collaborating with several trustworthy shuttle companies, our drivers are reliable, on time and know the location of the house. the shuttle will take you to the closest possible drop-off point depending on your arrival time, from where we can arrange a luggage carrier to guide you the last meters to the Riad. the transport charge is between 150-250,- dirhams for a one way airport shuttle, to be paid in local currency directly to the driver.
PHOTOS & PHOTO SHOOTINGS in La Maison
You are welcome to take photos around the riad to document your stay and to keep these for your own pleasure and posterity. We are more than happy for you to do this.
However, in case you do intend to use our location for commercial photo shoots, photographing merchandise, fashion, portraits or other set-ups for commercial use, which may be appearing in social media, on websites, in magazines or any other publication, kindly please mention this in your inquiry.
A booking via airbnb entitels you to sleep and stay in our nest, photo shoots will be invoiced seperately based on a common agreement and depending on your request. Please note, that changing the decor of our property or injecting your own products for the pupose of styling a shoot needs our agreement. disregard of our ground rules, photo shoots for commercial purposes and without our prior agreement and commercial self-promoting on any kind of social media will be considered a contravention of our house rules. We kindly ask you to respect our wishes and requests in this matter. For further clarification please do get in touch.
AROUND THE HOUSE
The area is a very lively, buzzing local quarter, a bit “rough around the edges” living amongst the locals & being surrounding by their daily lifes & habits. from there the entire medina is walkable, just to give you an idea of some starting points to explore the city:

TRUST
Bringing local young moroccan male or female guests to guest houses for various purposes during day time and/or overnight is strictly forbidden by law and can engender penalties, legal pursuit, but most of all losing our good reputation in the neighbourhood. please kindly take this in consideration before booking LA MAISON.
THE TERRACE
The roof terrace is an open space and visible to our local and traditional neighborhood. by respecting the local culture we kindly ask you to refrain from nude sun taning, loud music or rooftop parties. the consume of alcohol remains a delicate subject. we ask you kindly to treat this discretely.
We recommend to keep the terrace door closed, whenever you are not in the Riad or during the night, to prevent “unwanted visitors” like wild cats from entering and messing around the house.
OCCUPANCY
To inquire for availability please send me a message in advance. The most comfortable capacity is a group or family of 4, though we offer space for 6 guests (3 double rooms).
