About this listing

The guestroom offers you low-priced accommodation in one of the nicest parts of Wittenberg.
The courtyard and the surrounding buildings are located in a small road called Pfaffengasse, just 100 yards away from the castle church in the city centre.

The space

Spend the night at the craftsman’s courtyard in the old town of Wittenberg

The double room is at the first floor of a building which was built in 1895. Up to the 1920s it was used by a blacksmith. The building was renovated with a lot of attention to historical detail and has been used for living purposes again since 2005.

The back of the house is built on the old city walls. It is situated in a quiet part of town and from the window you have a beautiful view of the park. From the window facing the courtyard you also have a view of the workshop for historic musical instruments.

In the workshop stringed musical instruments from the Renaissance and the Baroque period are made by skilful craftsman.
On the ground floor of the building there is a small café and a coffeeroastery.

If ordered in advance you can book a guided tour of the workshop, or you can have a look into the procedure of roasting coffee beans. From the courtyard you can enjoy the view of the panorama of the castle church of Wittenberg.
The guestroom has been listed on the nationwide Bed&Bike register for bicyclefriendly accommodation since 2012. There is a big bicycleshed on the yard and the gate to he yard is closed over night. You can also rent a bike in the cycleshop over the road.

The guestroom offers space for one to two people.
An additional bed can be put up if required.

Guest access

The guestroom offers a good double bed and mattress, also two chairs and a table, wardrope, sideboard, satelite TV and WLAN. The bathroom is right next to the guestroom. The big an friendly kitchen is open to guest and friends.

Interaction with guests

I do prepare the common breakfast. Guests can have a look into the workshop or book a tour through the workshop for historical music instruments in advance.

Other things to note

I've got a dog, called Finn. He is a small hunting dog and he lives in the house as well. He would love the visit of any female dogs, but it would be advisible to leave any other pets at home.

A great host, who is really helpful, a lovely room and a great location, about a minute walk from the historic centre of Wittenberg. I'm looking forward to going back.

It was wonderful stay for my family. The host, Joerg, was nice, helpful and kind, even he is humorous to everyone. So he made us smile and happy. The house stands on the history(over 100-year-old), but all are clean and well-renovated. So there was any problem while staying. The host is always ready to help any request. So I highly recommend those who search some wonderful place to stay in Wittenberg!

Great off the Main Street but 2 minutes from the fantastic Reformation Memorial Church and walking park. Shops and cafes within close walking distance

Fantastic Host! Joerg is super friendly and kind! He is well informed about the surrounding attractions and can help you decide what to do on your trip. He is also very flexible and willing to help you check in and figure things out if your transportation arrives at strange times. Moreover, the house is in the Perfect spot in town! You have close access to every tourist destination. One of my favourite AirBnBs I've stayed at.

Response from Joerg:
Thank you for writing all these nice things about me and my place. Guess I have to practice a bit more on my guitar playing skills before I put anything of that in the internet. You tube is full of amateur presentations of cover songs. I don't really want to be part of that. Sorry that I couldn't say goodbye to you because I was out with Finn. So next time you'll get a hug ;-) All the best to you and I hope we'll met again. Joerg

THIS is an AWESOME place to stay!!!! It is right in the city center next to the Cathedral and beside a beautiful park. More importantly, the house itself is architecturally interesting as the owner has incorporated an array of antiques into the building, not to mention it is clean and comfortable. Joerg is an incredible host and his warm spirit makes you feel welcomed from the moment you meet. Stop by his musical instrument workshop on the property for an additional enriching activity for those young and old. We can't wait to stay with him again!

Lebenslustig - Weltoffen - Neugierig
I would see myself as a friendly, open minded and curious person. I travelled a lot and like to meet new people from all over the world. I speak good German and Englisch, some Spanish and very little French.
I'm a musical instrument maker and in my free time I go rockclimbing and mountaineering. I like to be out in the nature and even in winter I sleep in my tent, but not to often. I love good storytelling.
