Nakksjø - appartment B is a newly renovated one-room apartment with four beds and a “simple living” standard in the heart of Telemark. You can rent 1, 2 or all 3 apartments depending on the number of people in your group. The 3 apartments share common areas, a pier and a nice clean outhouse (toilet). Loan of a canoe is included in the rent with one canoe per apartment. A great area for canoeing, biking, hiking and fishing.

The space
The Lille Nakksjø cottages are originally from the 1930s and were used by loggers and their horses. The cottages are now completely renovated and heavily upgraded. This apartment is one part of three separate rental units close to the water's edge. Enjoy the privacy in your own apartment or on the lake, or be social with people from the other two apartments in the common areas. The place is newly renovated and is ready to be rented for starting the 1st of May 2020..

The three apartments have a “Simple Living” standard and cover basic needs with no extra luxury. All apartments have their own front door, kitchen and indoor dining area. There are four beds in each apartment. The cottages have no running water, but you can get clean drinking water from the small stream just 20 meters above the cabin. There are no showers; however, there are great swimming places from the pier 300 meters from the cabin.

You can get electricity from a small 1kw gasoline power supply used for lights and mobile charging. A full tank of gasoline in the power supply is included in the rent.

The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove.

The boathouse, the outhouse (toilet), and all the outdoor areas are shared with the other residents in the yard.

The location has good 4G phone coverage and there are parking places outside the cottages.

The cabin and its surrounding area is perfect for all nature-loving people, young and adult alike, families and friends to enjoy.

The lake provides excellent conditions for fishing. The trout in the water are not large, but they are easy to catch if you bring simple fishing gear for freshwater fish. A free fishing license is included in the rent.

There are beautiful cycling and hiking routes nearby, and it is a perfect place for canoeing and kayaking. One canoe per unit. It is also possible to borrow two kayaks. The kayaks can be used freely by all residents when they are not in use.

Guest access
Apartment B is the second largest cabin in the cottage yard with space for 4 people. There are 2 bunk beds with new madrasses.

Each unit will have access to its own canoe. It is also possible to borrow 2 kayaks. The kayaks can be used freely by all residents when they are not in use.

Other things to note
Guests should bring their own linen and towels. Linen can be arranged for 100 NOK per person.

Guests are responsible for cleaning the cottage before departure. This can also be taken care of by the host, if previously agreed upon, for an additional fee of 300 NOK

The railway line that runs between Drangedal and Lunde is close to the cottage. The railroad passes on a bridge around 200 meters from the cabin. However, the line is fenced, and there are few departures

There are excellent conditions for fishing in the lake. The trout in the water are not large, but they are easy to catch if you bring simple fishing gear for freshwater fish. People over 16 years old must buy a fishing license.

Sometimes on calm evenings, mosquitos and midges (small mosquitos) can be in the air. Sitting by the bonfire helps chase them away. There is a bonfire place equipped with a bonfire pan 50 meters from the house, where you can enjoy your evenings.

The cottage has a gasoline-powered generator that provides electricity when you need it. A full tank of gas is included in the rent. The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove and basic kitchenware.

The toilet is in the outhouse and is simple but clean. The toilet is shared with two other apartments. There is no running water in the cottage, however, you get clean drinking water from the lake outside.

There is no shower, but you have a great swimming spot at the pier 300 meters from the cabin. The pier is shared with the other two apartments.

There is no public transport in the area. A private car is recommended

Location

Nakksjo, Vestfold Og Telemark, Norway

The nearest neighbor is about 3 kilometers away and the cottage is at the end of a forest road. Parking right outside the residence. The lake Nakksjø is 5 meters from the cabin. This is a paddle water of about 2km² that is connected to the Kragerøvassdraget. The water is large and open and has many small channels that are fun to explore. It is about 7 kilometers to paddle around the water itself.

This is the place for friends, couples, and families that like to live close to nature. Drink clean water directly from the stream, enjoy exploring the surroundings in the day and light up the bonfire pan and enjoy the stars in the evenings. Except for the three apartments, there are no other buildings in this area.

There are beautiful cycling and hiking routes nearby, and it is a perfect place for fishing, canoeing and kayaking.

The area has an abundance of wildlife and there is a good chance to spot both beavers and moose. The best time of the day to spot these animals are in the morning and late evenings. We recommend paddling the canoe in the evening to spot the animals at the water's edge. We also recommend taking your car and drive along the many gravel roads on a private “Moose Safari.”

We can also recommend “The Telemark Canal,” “The Troll Car,” and other historical sites only 15-30 minutes' drive from the cabin. You can find additional information in the tourist information folder provided in the cabin.

Less than one hour to the south, you will find Kragerø, a gem on Norway’s coastline.

The UNESCO heritage site of Rjukan is less than two hours away. Here you will also find the famous Gaustadtoppen mountain with its amazing views.

Alternative fun activities for Children:
Hulfjell Gård is a 20 minutes’ drive away from the cabin. This is a small “visit farm” with a variety of animals and a fun waterpark. My neighbor Jon Halvor runs this farm, and he provides an extra 10% discount if you say you stay at “Fredrik’s AirBnB.” (www.hulfjell.no)

Sommarland i Bø is a 45 minutes’ drive away from the cabin. This is Norway’s largest waterpark and has a variety of waterslides and activities. (sommarland.no)
