The space

Try out city living in a real SF neighborhood. Our Guest Cottage is situated just uphill from the center of the Glen Park Village, located in the middle of San Francisco. Just four short BART stops away from the bustle of Powell Street, Glen Park is a quaint SF neighborhood with central access to public transportation (BART and Muni Rail) to get anywhere within The City. Generations of SF natives are proud to call this village—cradled in a canyon at the bottom of Diamond Heights—home, and shop owners know their customers by name. Three Boulevard alums bring foodies here: Diners squeeze nightly into Gialina for specialty pizzas by Sharon Ardiana and fill up the reservations book at Chenery Park - "eclectic American food" from chef duo Gaines Dobbins and Richard Rosen. The neighborhood has evolved into a self-sustaining suburb-within-the-city, but with far more charm than any suburb could ever muster.

Our Guest Cottage is single room 400 square foot studio situated behind our Victorian home, offering quiet privacy in a contemporary SF setting. It is a self contained with both a kitchen and a full bathroom with bathtub. You can enjoy the view from the window or fresh air on the deck.

Glen Park is a kid friendly neighborhood with 2 playgrounds and kid friendly restaurants. Glen Park is a transportation hub with BART and Muni rail stops, as well as being located near major freeways for access to Silicon Valley and the rest of the SF Bay Area.

If you are renting a car, street parking is relatively easy and free (no meters or garage fees).

Easy access to SFO airport via BART.

Bedding and towels are fresh. Beds include 1 comfortable queen size bed, 1 queen size air bed available, and 1 pack and play available (for babies and toddlers).

An updated WiFi router was recently installed in the cottage for improved internet speeds.

This cottage was lovely and plenty private behind the main house. Our hosts were generous, accommodating and communicated well. When I had an unexpected situation arise, Dana allowed me to check in a day early, for instance. There was a leaky faucet and they fixed it right away. My partner and I stayed here for two months, and it definitely was feeling like home. The cottage is well cared-for, with some signs of wear and tear that one expects with age. Note that while the studio is open and spacious overall, there is not a whole lot of space for storage. The neighborhood is quiet, and the people friendly. There is a coop grocery down the street and all the restaurants we tried near the BART station (Banh Mi, chinese, pizza, mexican, crepes, coffee shop, bubble tea) were quite good. Getting around the city was very easy and convenient. Would highly recommend.

We stayed in Dana's place while looking for apartments in SF. We had everything we needed, with plenty of space for 2 people! The neighborhood is very cute, quiet, safe, and has plenty of street parking. There is also a market and a couple restaurants down the street. We also loved how close the Bart station was, and how accessible it was to I-280. Thanks again, Dana! I would definitely recommend!

Not being familiar with San Fran, this is was such a lucky, delightful surprise of a find. Glen Park is such a perfect, adorable little community just a 10 minute BART ride to downtown. The cottage was super cozy and quiet. The best part was stepping out the back door on to Penny Lane, a named single lane alleyway filled with flowers and trees. The neighborhood is safe but DO NOT leave any valuables in your car -- mine got broken into. It's a San Fran problem all over. Be prepared to walk up hills. Great restaurants in town as well as a fantastic natural foods grocery store. Glen Canyon and Upper Douglass great places to walk the dog. Hosts are great and responded to questions quickly.

We had a great stay at Dana's cottage for a month. It was on a quiet street, but only 5 minutes walking to the BART so commuting was very easy. The full kitchen came in handy and had everything you'd need to cook. Great views from the window, a real hidden gem.

Our hostess and her twin daughters were very welcoming and helpful. The cozy apartment was just what we hoped for -- quiet and residential. We liked the kitchen and the lovely view. The bed is comfortable. The place is in a truly wonderful San Francisco neighborhood.

Perfect home away from home while visiting San Francisco. We had a car and never had trouble parking on the street. This was especially helpful because it was raining most of our visit! Fabulous view and great neighborhood coffee shops.

The description of the house and neighborhood were accurate. Not much going on in Glen Park, but a few nice restaurants and easy access to the BART are great. The host was friendly and relatively responsive. Just a couple of issues: 1. The wifi was terrible. The host did replace the router however it never worked reliably and was a constant source of frustration. If you are only there for a short time this might not matter, but since I was staying there for 12 weeks it had a very negative impact on my experience. 2. The small fridge was bad. Frost made the freezer completely unusable and the fridge itself was not able to keep things cold enough. Again, probably not an issue if you aren't staying for a long period.
