About Ubud:
Ubud, a town in central Bali, is far removed from crowded Kuta, and is regarded as the cultural centre of Bali. It is famous as an arts and crafts hub, and much of the town and nearby villages consist of artists workshops and galleries.

Ubud has in the last years developed to be one of the major places in the world for yoga, healing, and personal growth. Or, you can just come here and enjoy the great atmosphere and all the great places to eat.

There are some remarkable architectural and other sights to be found, and a general feeling of well being to be enjoyed, all thanks to the spirit, surroundings, and climate of the place. There are many tourists attractions in and around Ubud.

Guest access

How to get to the meeting point when you arrive in Ubud. The pick up point is at Alchemy cafe in Jalan Penestanan. Before coming to Jalan Penestanan you have to drive through the town centre of Ubud to Antonio Blanco museum, which is a well known museum in Ubud.

Shortly after the museum there is a crossroad where you turn sharp left up jalan Penestanan, its a short drive about 500 meters, and you will find Alchemy cafe on the left side of the road. The best is to call me to find the way. Please note. Telephone number will only show when a reservation is made.

From the airport you can come by taxi or I can also arrange with a local driver from Ubud to pick you up at the airport.

After pick up I will take you to your lodging. Which is about 500 meters into the southern part of Penestanan village along a small pathway.

If you have any questions please ask.

All the best

Kadek

The house is located in a side street of a main road. This side street is cozy and allready filled with some good restaurants, little supermarkets, a spa and a taxi pick up. So if you want to escape the busy Ubud this is a great place to go! (You only really need to go there if you need an ATM) The view is very nice! We've spend quite some time just sitting on the balcony and staring: ricefield, people working, cute ducks, kites in the sky and a sunset right in front of you! Kadek is the sweetest host ever, made us great breakfast every morning. Overall I can really advise this place if your looking for a peacefull place to stay : ) (bring some earplugs though if you're a light sleeper, the roosters and ducks get active pretty early)

Wonderful location, with spectacular views, a bit of a walk to anywhere but well worth it. Can't fault the house or the housekeeper Kadek who will go the extra mile to make your stay a pleasant one. Great place for peace and relaxation but very close to the hustle and bustle of Ubud.

Kadek's place is lovely. About a 500m walk off a main road, ~25 minute walk from the heart of Ubud. Breakfast was provided every morning and the balcony is a great place to enjoy the view while eating. Bring a flashlight if you're returning home after dark.

We had a fantastic week staying here. Kadek is the BEST host, she always made sure we were happy and comfortable, she made us the most delicious breakfasts and helped us with all of our luggage and baby. The room is clean and comfortable, beautiful view of the rice fields. The pool and garden were clean and a nice place to escape the heat. The location is in the heart of penestanan. We had a scooter and could get to all of our favourite spots in minutes (alchemy, yellow flower, Vespa, elephant). There's also a couple of nice warungs within walking distance. Would definitely stay here next time. Thank you Kadek!

This was a great experience overall! Kadek met me at the well-known Alchemy Cafe, a local raw food institution, at the appointed time. Because I had a lot of baggage she got the other helper from the house to come too, and between the two of them they got themselves, me and all my bags on their two motorbikes. The property is about a 10-minute walk from Alchemy through the rice fields - further than I had thought, but I came to enjoy the walk. It's quite pretty and peaceful (except for motorbikes passing on the narrow path) and there are 3-4 good restaurants on the way. The place itself was very nice. The main room was a bit smaller than I anticipated, but it was fine. The kitchen is basic but it's nice that it's attached and indoors, unlike many kitchens here. The patio was very nice. The only things I didn't like were 1) The pool is so tiny that swimming is impossible - all you can do is immerse yourself, and 2) There are many, many roosters around the place (belonging to neighbors) so it is hard to sleep past 6:30 a.m., and 3) The a/c for the room is very weak; however, by keeping it at its highest setting continuously, the room was a very comfortable temp for sleeping, and there is also a ceiling fan. However, if you prefer your a/c stronger, be advised. This part of Penestanan is much, much, much more peaceful than central Ubud and in fact many people (including expats) live around here without ever going to Ubud Center at all. Intuitive Flow yoga, a gorgeous studio, is about a 20 minute walk away (you walk to Alchemy and then another 10 minutes further, again through scenic paths. It is a nice walk, but if you want to do yoga frequently, you may want to stay closer to the studio.) Walking to Ubud Center takes 30-40 minutes depending on where you're going, and it's a steep hill back, so you will probably want to take cabs or hire a motorbike. At first I felt too far away being here, but after a few days in the loud bustle with non-stop traffic and wall-to-wall tourist stores of Ubud, I felt very grateful to be in Penestanan. (The other good choice, and an easier walk to Ubud Center, is Nyuh Kuning.) As everyone else has said, Kadek is an incredibly caring and attentive host and housekeeper. She devised a unique breakfast for me to suit my needs, and one morning gave me a motorbike ride to the place I needed to go. Her English is quite good, and she is a gem. In my opinion it's good to show your appreciation by tipping her well, but she would never ask for or expect it.

Here are some highlights. The terrasse gives a view on beautiful rices fields and a very refreshing breeze blows on it most of the time. The apartment is not modern, but nice, clean and comfortable. Wifi is good, I could even watch movies on Netflix. I found the neighborhood very safe. You will live among Balinese and witness their daily routine. Nature is omnipresent around the apartment: wonderful vegetation and sounds. Kadek, the cleaner, is nice and truly helpful. I really enjoyed talking with her and learn more about Balinese people.

Kadek immediately made me feel so welcome, she was a perfect host and made my experience of Ubud even more special. The apartment its self is simplistically lovely, you have everything that you need. The sunset views from the terrace are gorgeous and the area is dreamy: quiet and peaceful without being too secluded. Highly, highly recommended.
