Tucked away in medieval Birgu, this pied-à-terre is the ultimate pad for getting away from it all, while only a few minutes boat-ride from Valletta.
Experience authentic village life outside your doorstep while living in a pad where attention to detail is clearly the architect-owners' agenda.
The space
Petite one-bedroom house, set in medieval Birgu, in the heart of its 'Collacchio' - the Knights' neighborhood, renovated in 2015
Located in one of the most idyllic pedestrian streets of this medieval and historic town, this holiday home offers the blissful respite of village life, while being only a few metres away from a number of wine bars, restaurants, a yacht marina and even a casino. A bus terminus and ferry to Valletta are also a 12-minute walk away.
The understated interior was designed and finished by the owner-architect - with particular detailing in the kitchen and bathroom areas - together with an interesting mix of retro and vintage furnishings. Accommodation includes sitting area, kitchen and bathroom on ground floor; and bedroom on first floor. The bedroom and living room are fully air-conditioned, while the bathroom is equipped with underfloor heating. Malta can get quite chilly in the winter months!

The street is fully pedestrian & paved with 500 year old hardstone, so apart from the balcony guests often take chairs to sit outside like most of the locals do in the summer months.

This is the most up and coming neighborhood on the Grand Harbour.
With Valletta's south side in direct view and easy boat ride away, the harbour is the most romantic way to get out of town.
There are 20 or so restaurants & bars, spread on the marina and also hidden along the medieval streets, so you can just walk leisurely to have supper in picturesque surroundings, everyday.
The recent "Dock No.1" landscape embellishment project is unique: historical docklands & warehouses framed with trees and even a generous patch of turf to stroll around; while the restoration of the historic Fort St.Angelo is nearing completion.
All in all - a part of Malta which is still relatively unspoiled by developers and tourism: a true hideout where guests feel & are treated as locals.

VALLETTA VINTAGE is a collection of vintage and contemporary finds – properties & contents – curated by their owner-architect and his partner to offer an alternative to mainstream holiday accommodation. Their love with art & design, coupled with their belief that good architecture can bring inner peace and solace, have led to this aspiration become a reality.
Established in 2012 by architect Chris Briffa, the collection grew from one small apartment to ten, each housed in refurbished buildings spread around the city of Valletta and its harbour. The architect renovated the spaces with his renowned, elegant approach; subtly integrating the traditional with the contemporary.
Together with his wife Hanna, Chris furnished their self-catering properties with a mix of designer, bespoke & vintage pieces: sourced from shops, workshops and online markets. Very much like an extension of their own home, each unit is equipped with all modern commodities & comforts, clever details and a growing collection of local, contemporary artwork.
While each is different from the other, they are all conceived around a common concept: a commitment to provide a memorable and truly local experience.
