One-bedroom retreat offering quick access to the Sayulita plaza and Pacific ocean. It sits on a lush hillside in a residential neighborhood and includes a gorgeous outdoor kitchen, charming outdoor living spaces, stunning views and a kingsize bed.
The penthouse was recently designed and built by Miguel Valverde, a talented Mexican architect. It provides a unique space for people who appreciate beauty and outdoor tropical living.
Built above a house (which can be rented separately), it offers superb views of the ocean and valley.
The outdoor living area includes both uncovered and shaded spaces. A grass lawn, tropical flowers and palm trees define the outdoor areas, as do granite tiles and unique stonework. Terracotta tile roofs shade the kitchen, the dining area and a sitting area outside the bedroom.
The outdoor kitchen was designed for simplicty and ease. A two-burner stove (no oven) and a large gas grill set in a granite countertop plus other basic accessories such as a refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven and Mexican dishware make meal preparation a pleasure.
The outdoor dining area features an equipale table and six chairs made by local craftsmen.
Inside, you will find a large bedroom, a large bath and closets. The bedroom offers a beautiful view of the ocean. It has a kingsize bed, a ceiling fan, an air conditioner, a small desk, and a safe for secure storage. The bathroom features a very large bathtub decorated with Mexican tiles and a shower that overlooks a jungle hillside.
Above the bedroom is another level featuring a palapa (thatched roof) and a breath-taking view of the ocean and valley. It is the perfect spot for morning coffee, an afternoon siesta in the hammock, or evening drinks with friends.
Guests have high-speed internet access through a wireless fiber optic network.
You are the sole occupants of the penthouse, including the palapa level. There is a two-bedroom house below the penthouse that can be rented separately. (The penthouse and house have separate entrances.)
Interaction with guests
Ramon, our property manager, is available 24 hours/day via email or phone. He is incredibly responsive and helpful. He is fluent in English.
Other things to note
The penthouse is built above a two-bedroom house that is also available for rent, based on availability.
One of the most delightful things about the penthouse is that the living space is largely outdoors -- an appealing feature in a tropical climate. You should be aware, however, that even during the winter there are occasional showers in Sayulita that could be inconvenient.
The cleaning fee covers housekeeping before and after your stay. If you'd like more frequent housekeeping, it can be arranged for a fee. (If you're staying more than a week, weekly housekeeping is provided without charge.)
This may not be meaningful to you unless you have rented elsewhere in Sayulita: The house is connected to the town sewer and you can use the bathroom as you are accustomed. Yay!
No pets and no smoking, please.

My husband and I live in Northern California half the year and in Sayulita, Mexico the other half. We love the people in Sayulita, and the food, the climate, the jungle vegetation and the fact that we can walk everywhere. My husband has a blues band that performs at least once a week while we're in Sayulita.
