About this listing

Although the booking says Entire Home/Apt, our guests share the space with us. An authentic family farmhouse with 3 bedrooms on the second floor available for guests with a bathroom for guest use only. We give our guests as much privacy as they want. A simple, rustic place. NOTE: GPS may not direct you to the exact location. Turn in the lane opposite the old red mailbox. After booking, call the host as directed for further details. We also require an ETA and a profile.

The space

Along the Lake Huron shoreline, you will find miles and miles of clean sandy beaches. A naturalist's paradise for birding, botany and rural gardens. Hiking and biking adventures. A haven for eco-tourism about 20 minutes from the city of Owen Sound.

A rustic heritage farmhouse, owner occupied, situated on 148 acres in the village of Clavering, Georgian Bluffs. Enjoy the solitude while still 10 minutes from Lake Huron and charming downtown Wiarton. Excellent well water. Stocked kitchen with dishes and cooking utensils and dining room. Fire pit. 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms available. A "slow" simple farmhouse, no internet connection, but you can connect in Wiarton or Owen Sound.

Nearby attractions: Sauble Beach and all points north on the Bruce Peninsula featuring spectacular Tobermory. Explore artist studios and gallery tours. Nearby is the Bruce Trail which runs the entire length of Georgian Bluffs to Skinners Bluff, one of the most photographed lookouts in Ontario. From waterfalls and open air markets to golfing and horseback riding, you will find something of interest.

We can provide the perfect resting spot on your adventure while you explore this spectacular area! Reg is available to help you find the hidden treasures of the area and how to find the best way to get to the National Park.

Fresh local organic eggs and local dairy products available; breakfast is not included but will be offered when Marlene is available. Otherwise use of kitchen is ok during your stay. Clean up is expected.

Guest access

Guests will have access to the entire 2nd floor, including the bathroom. Kitchen and dining room is a shared space. Outdoor table and chairs for guest use. Fire pit available upon request.

Interaction with guests

Reg is available to help with touring questions. He was born and raised in the farmhouse and is the 4th generation of Moore's in Clavering and 3rd generation in the farmhouse.

Our family of seven had a wonderful stay at the farmhouse. It's in a very tranquil setting and made a perfect base for exploring the Bruce Peninsula. Marlene was very patient in answer our queries and Reg generously shared his vast knowledge of the local area.

Thank you Marlene and Reg. We really enjoyed our stay. The farmhouse is charming and comfortable, with nice, big, airy bedrooms. Marlene and Reg are great hosts. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome, between her locally sourced healthy and hearty breakfasts and Reg's love for the area and suggestions for interesting things to see and do, we felt very welcome. It was also nice to romp around the front yard to admire the farm field, birds and flowers in our down time. Definitely would love to go back.

I suggest you follow all of Reg's suggestions for places to visit and eat, they are on point! Marlene made my family and I feel VERY welcome. It is a shame we only stayed for one night. I will be back!

Marlene & Reg are great hosts, and the house itself is very clean, cozy and comfortable. Ideal location - close to everything. Reg & Marlene gave a lot of good advises on the places to visit, and we are very happy with the experiences. We definitely come back.

We had a great time staying at Reg & Marlene's, They are both great people and even better entertainers. Reg taught us how to play a great Canadian game called Crokinole, we had a great nights sleep and were welcomed with some amazing coffee in the morning before heading to Flowerpot Island.
