A charming Cottage in the village of Mayfield. There is a wood burning stove for winter stays and a enclosed well stocked tranquil garden (*Please note there is a small pond in the garden). The cottage is detached and situated up a private drive with parking. It is secluded and quiet whilst being under 2 mins walk from a super village pub serving good food and local beers and 5 minutes walk to the centre of the village with all its lovely shops/cafes, delicatessen and famous gastro pub.

The space
The cottage can either be accessed up some steps or there is a side path. The ground floor has an open sitting room/dining room with large fire place housing a wood burning stove. The Kitchen is well equipped with cooking utensils and has a gas range cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer and microwave.
The bathroom is also on the ground floor with a shower over the bath.
Up the cottage stairs there are two double bedrooms, one with a king size bed and the other smaller room with a standard double. The bedding and the towels are super luxurious.
On the landing there is a separate wc with a wash basin.

Where you’ll be

East Sussex, England, United Kingdom

Mayfield is the most wonderful village situated in the High Weald, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The early village was recorded in the Domesday Book. Mayfield was at its height during the Wealden iron industry boom during the 16th and 17thC., and many of the houses date from that time. Every autumn the village hosts its annual carnival/festival. It is part of the Sussex bonfire tradition of marking the discovery of the Gunpowder Plot. The procession marches through the village by torchlight on the 3rd weekend of Sept followed by a firework display on the village green.
There is an abundance of famous houses and gardens to visit nearby, Sissinghurst, Hever Castle, Battle Abbey, Batemans, Rudyard Kipling’s home and Charleston Farmhouse, the country meeting place of the Bloomsbury group, to name but a few. The magnificent south downs are a short drive; it is well worth going and walking along the top, followed by a visit to a quaint village and pub lunch at the bottom!
