Turn-of-the-century premium historic horse-training stable, reported to be '..unrivaled by any in the world...' [Thoroughbred Magazine, 1978] now converted to a dramatic, beautiful lodge sleeping up to 12. Structure is 21,000 square feet of clear-grain Douglas Fir, consisting of 31 horse stalls, most of which are converted to beautiful living space. The house surrounds a 10,000 sq. ft. courtyard and is situated on 11 acres of oak and bay trees, with trails, secluded hot tub and lap pool crafted out of natural river rock. The inner courtyard's Tuscany-style center fountain is surrounded by manicured lawn, its periphery lined with flowers. Beautifully crafted woodwork, original stall doors with silver-plated hand wrought hardware open onto gorgeous living quarters with 25-ft open-beam cathedral ceilings. New hardwood flooring, plaster walls, wonderful artwork, high-end linens, deep-hued rugs and 6 ft grand piano give a feeling of rustic elegance. Guests rent the entire property. The only unavailable portion of the building are locked stalls containing supplies and equipment. Also, the uphill creek house is reserved for our caretaker.
Interaction with guests
The owner greets guests at the commencement of the rental and gives a tour of the house. If there is an event, we provide a site manager and parking attendant.
Other things to note
Multiple wineries and restaurants are five to fifteen minutes away. Other activities include Safari West, ballooning, canoeing down the Russian River, swimming at Healdsburg and Guerneville, a drive through the redwoods to the Pacific Ocean, hot springs in Calistoga, and biking.
We allow pets for an additional fee. No smoking is permitted in the house. The use of candles or other fire implements needs to be authorized by the owner. No screws, nails or tacks are allowed on the building. We comply with Sonoma County 10:00 p.m. outdoor noise ordinance and Sonoma County restriction of outdoor amplification.
