The space

A very traditional village stone house over 90 years old just restored now to a brand new from its original glory, in one of the most beautiful and peaceful village of Paphos, Kathikas. Guest access

The village of Kathikas is situated 22 km from the town of Paphos, 14 km from Latchi and 12 km from Coral Bay. Kathikas sits at an elevation of 645 metres above sea level, which provides it with a good climate in the summer months. This is wine country and the area is famous for its vineyards and the excellent quality of its grapes. Several of the wineries welcome visitors.

Kathikas is a village full of life, energy and hospitality but still retains an old world character with its stone houses and the traditional way of life is much in evidence. The focal point of the village is the square where the main church “Panayia Evangelistria” with its beautiful murals is located. Surrounding the square are coffee shops and tavernas with constantly fresh vegetables, grilled dishes and homemade desserts. Apart from the main church the village also has two small chapels.

There are a couple of shops in the village selling basic groceries and household cleaning items, and a new bakery recently opened in the village of Stroumbi which is about a six-minute drive away. A hairdressing salon sits just off the village square.

The nearest doctors are in Peyia Village (10 minutes) and the closest hospital is in Polis (12 minutes).

The Akamas Peninsula, Lara Bay (turtle hatchery), Polis and the Baths of Aphrodite are all easily accessible from Kathikas, as is the Tsadha Golf Course which is approximately a 15-minute drive from the village.

Nearest main attractions are the natural Avakas Gorge and Peyia Zoo ((URL HIDDEN)

The agricultural produce of the area are cereals, legumes, almonds, carob beans, fruit etc. The main product though, is grapes - mostly black, white and sultana grapes. There are other varieties as well, but in smaller quantities. In the old days all the villages were equipped with grape-presses and the villagers produced some quite good wines

Thank you Marinos and Eleni for a wonderful stay in Cyprus! We had an amazing holiday and loved staying in your beautiful home. Great location, not far from many of the main attractions of west Cyprus and easily commutable by car to tourist hot-spots of Pafos and the Akamas Peninsula. A well-kempt and well presented stone cottage with a lovely traditional feel in peaceful Kathikas village. We thoroughly enjoyed the recommended local nature walk and several of the villages cafes and tavernas. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a more rural Cyprus experience that is within striking distance of the attractions of the area.

This place is beautiful - the house, the village - it's peaceful but with a few great taverna's and cafe's (particularly 'Imogen's'). A car is necessary for this location but also as there is so much to do in Cyprus. Our highlights being Aphrodite Beach (great for snorkelling) and the surrounding walks. The Troodos Mountains. Paphos Archeological Park and balmy nights sitting in the courtyard of this lovingly and tastefully restored house, playing backgammon, with a beer and the barbecue on...wish we could have stayed longer. Marino's, who owns the house, was super helpful and friendly. Everything went smoothly; it's an easy place to find and a relatively short drive from Paphos Airport. Idyllic.

Marinos was super helpful with the apartment. He provided strip maps, recommendations, and beautiful weather ;-). Was a great experience. Close to delicious taverns for food. 20 min drive from aphrodites baths, 5-mins from vineyard with car, 15 mins to paphos and 15 mins to avakas gorge. Great location with super friendly helpful locals. I appreciate the wonderful experience.

A friend and I stayed in Marinos' house for a few nights while the weather was terrible. We arrived in the rain and were greeted warmly with a wheelbarrow of logs for the fire and a bottle of local Kathikas wine. The house was clean and very traditional and just like it looks in the listing. It was, through no fault of its own, cold, however, and we were very thankful for the logs as we sat by the stone fireplace all evening. I would advise people staying in the winter to bring lots of warm clothes! It's a great location for those wanting to see Paphos/Polis and the Akamas Peninsula and I imagine in the summer it would be a super place for a group of people as there is a lovely private outdoor courtyard. Marinos was very helpful throughout the stay and we had everything we needed and more. Be warned that many restaurants in Kathikas close entirely or early during the week out of season, so perhaps bring some supplies. All in all I would definitely recommend.

What an unforgettable stay! If you are looking for an authentic and unique travel experience, this spot is for you. What a honor to stay in this historic stone cottage that has been passed down through generations of the host's family. The property is absolutely picturesque, with a charming inner courtyard perfect for eating breakfast and enjoying the sunshine, and beautifully decorated rooms. The airbnb host was phenomenal, easy to contact, and provided an EXCELLENT written guide to the area which we ended up using quite extensively. The location is ideal - an easy 5 minute walk to the city center where you will find great restaurants and shops. Kathikas itself is very quaint and charming, quiet and nice for strolling through the streets of old stone cottages. There are several vineyards which surround Kathikas, and some beautiful hillside drives. Its easy to travel down to Paphos and up to Polis as well (20-30 minute drive), if you are looking for a day trip to explore other cities or some time at the beach. All in all we loved our time here and highly recommend!
