The space

Spacious (40 m2) and cosy attic bedroom with bathroom for 2 guests, in a traditional country cottage renovated in 2014. Features a comfortable Super King-size bed, a relaxation/reading corner, a coffee/writing table, WiFi and TV+speakers+VGA cable connector. The room has a private entrance from the garden. Showers are shared and located in a separate sauna building.

Fully equipped kitchen, outdoor kitchenette, smoker, log-fired stove and grill equipment available. Order a healthy country breakfast or rent our fabulous sauna for extra!

We are happy to assist you during your stay. Let us fix you a cup of coffee/tea, a healthy breakfast, lunch and/or dinner upon request! We speak English, Finnish, Swedish, Lithuanian and some Spanish and German as well!

You find us a km away from historic Piibe road (road 39). There are daily buses from Tallinn and Tartu (get off at "Kärde" stop and walk 2 km). Nearest grocery store and clinic are 4 km away, a lake suitable for swimming and Endla Nature Reserve's visitors' center is 3 km away. Nearest town Jõgeva is 15 km away. Great central location for exploring Estonia.

A day trip to Endla Nature Reserve (only a few km away) is a must! Experience its unique wellspring area, eight bog massifs, divided by rivers with narrow flooded meadows or swamped forests, marked hiking trail, boardwalks, various forest communities, wooded meadow and bogs, protected bird and plant species. Partly overlapping hiking trails allow everyone to choose a nature trip within one’s powers. The towers give a beautiful view of swamped lakes. Since 2004, it is one of the Natura 2000 bird and nature areas. Various campgrounds and picnic places in the area. Open 24 hours. Free of charge.

In Kärde you’ll find Kärde Peace House where the significant Russo-Swedish peace treaty of Kärde was signed in 1661. Kärde is located at an old, important postal road, close to Kärde hill with forest-covered Endla marsh behind it. Kärde park, the Peter’s stone and the so-called Peace-ditch are of further interest. Close by are many different lakes connected to old legends, like the lake Männika, which was supposed to be the dwell of Kalevipoeg and lake Endla, where supposedly the daughter of Vanemuine (epic Estonian figure) – Juta – used to live (there’s a Juta stone at the lakeside). Ask us for instructions to find them or book a private guided tour with us!

Visit Tooma Horse Stable (3 km away) and pet the world class trotters they breed there. Nearby there is a lake with a new pier and children's pool - great for the whole family.

Rent a bicycle to explore the surroundings; inflatable kayaks for 2 for a trip to lake Endla; fishing rods, a guided tour to Endla Nature Reserve. Try out our Speedminton set, table football and give DiscGolf a go!

Where to begin. Marelli's place is ideal if you'd love to switch off from the hustle and bustle of the city and get some downtime in a place where oxygen seems to drown you in an avalanche and the sound of nighttime frogs and daytime grass are your only company. I wanted to offer my Italian boyfriend a true Estonian nature experience , and boy I couldn't have wished for a better place. We were greeted by a carafe of homemade rhubarb wine (which was excellent and tasted almost like normal dry white) - you are welcome to purchase any from the list they've got - the honey wine tasted particularly exotic. There is an outdoor kitchen, which is perfect for summer months (I hope there's another solution for the winter). We cooked barbeque every night - make sure you take loads of food because the nearest shop is 4 km away, and the selection is scarce. The room was cosy and perfectly decorated, the bed large and our sleep was sound. There is a yard where one can partake in numerous activities (Frisbee, badminton). A day trip to the national park was exquisite, and a swim in the nearby lake refreshing. Our hosts were extremely easygoing and lovely, making me feel as if I was visiting long lost relatives, not strangers found on Airbnb. Marelli's mum also deserves a honorary mention, for she kept me company with her interesting stories. If you're looking for a unique Estonian experience, this is it. Can't recommend enough!

If you want to go to country side in Estonia, you should go to Marelli's place. I can truly recommend Marelli's place for everyone. The location is peaceful, quiet , between the fields and near the Endla Nature Reserve. A great place to have a good rest at home and to walk around. Marelli and her family are welcoming, helpful and great people. I felt very welcome and had an enjoyable stay. Thank you Marelli and family for a perfect accommodation, amazing breakfast, good conversations, warm and relaxing atmosphere.

Marelli was a wonderful host and her family was welcoming and helpful. The room was absolutely immaculate and the view was lovely. The room has a water closet and i had use of the family shower in the sauna room. The village is small but not too far from Tallinn and nearby there are a few lakes to walk to. Marelli offered excellent advice on where to go and what to do in the area. And the breakfast was amazing! Real eggs from the family chickens, homemade preserves, homemade juice, fresh tea and coffee, meat and cheese - a real Estonian breakfast! Marelli and family are simply what every great host ought to be. I have made new friends and i will definitely be going back to stay with Marelli when i go back to Estonia!

WOW, what a great place to stay! Hosts were great and knowledgable about the area. The birding was good although several viewing towers were disabled. We appreciate the clean facility and all the smiles!
