Wonderful little traditional villa located on a small agricultural village, 10 minutes drive from the beach, the airport and 15 minutes from Heraklion city center.

The space

It is an old House builded in 1860 which has been completely renovated in
2010. Belonged to a Turkish Agha of the region until 1902 that was bought by my grandfather Michael Chamalakis when he settled with his family in the village of Epano Vathia.

It was always a rural stone made house, which develops in three levels
according to the morphology of the land. The village was mentioned as early as the period of Venetian Crete with the same name and is located on the edge of a fertile valley with olive trees and vines that are the main source of income for residents.oannis and Tripiti.

Beautiful place. Full of character and spotless. In a quiet village. Welcome by Manolis was warm. He even offered to drive my parents back to the airport at check out. You need a car to get here but it's a lovely base for Heraklion and sights around. Handy for airport too.

Themis's place is a lovely house. Very close to Heraklion but in a completely different world of traditional Greece. Lovely wonderful countryside, easy drive to the beach and a delightful local taverna serving delicious home cooked food. The woman who owns it goes out of her way. She cooked us a full vegetarian platter according to my wishes.

The house was even more beautiful than described, and has been a wonderful place to stay for our family of four. It has been a brilliant first experience of Greece for our children. The house is a very short car journey from the beach, airport and shops, and is close to Heraklion, Knossos and the main highway across the island, so you can get to lots of fantastic places easily. Themistocles has been an informative and enthusiastic host, and his father, Manolis, who met us and picked up the keys, was kind, helpful and genuinely charming. Leaving us cool water, Cretan wine and fruit as we arrived was a really nice touch. We are all now a bit sad to be back, and want to plan our next visit. Thank you so much Themistocles and Manolis.

The property was just what we were looking for, the description on the site is accurate. Acecpt that the third bedroom has a seperate door accessed from the courtyard, to use this room incurers the extra charge, and as we have two teenage children who didn't want to share a bed we had to pay extra for this annex. Manuel was welcoming and friendly, with wine and fruit as a gift. Directions to find: from Heraklion go towards Episkopi, at the roundabout north of the town take the road to Epano Vathia. When you go up into the village there is a viewing mirror on a building, turn left and the house is the first on the right on the corner with a gold gate. You will need a car to fully enjoy your holiday. We used Budget cars at the airport and were very happy. Trips to do ~ Water City, Spinalonga, Knossos, Heraklion archiological museum. We had a great time at the house and would happily reccomend it to you.

A lovely house in a quiet little village, well equipped with three big bedrooms and two bathrooms. You definitely need a car here, we had several interesting drives through the narrow streets of the local villages. We really should have stayed for longer than four nights as we just ran out of time, there is so much to see in Heraklion the beaches and countryside. Emanuel was a wonderful host, greeted us late at night after our late flight in and he came and drove us to the airport to pick up our hire car next morning, fantastic service. There is a lovely small cafe just down the hill and a small supermarket just a short drive away. Be aware that some places in Greece are hard to find on a GPS, we couldn't find the village we stayed at on our GPS, not much of a problem for us as we arrived by taxi. Our only concern was that we had no WiFi, there is supposed to be a system that covers the village, we were given its name and password, but we couldn't find it. I would definitely stay here again.

Our family and I had a lovely holiday at Themistocles's place. The house, situated in a really nice and quite area, was even better than what we expected. Themistocles helped us anytime we needed. Highly recommended!

The house is in a small village near Heraklio. It was clean and the reception was perfect. It's near to a wine area and near to ancient Knossos. We had nice days in this house. Thanks, Daniel
