Extra-cool and off-grid container house hanging off a cliff, with resident leopards, in an easy (and near totally tarmac) drive from Nairobi. Come stay at my home and enjoy hanging out with the dogs, picking and eating vegetables from the garden and feeding and even milking the goats (subject to seasonality)!

The space
The container house is a large open space which has a fully stocked kitchen, a big lounge area, a stunning deck and view and then two bedrooms to the side.

The area has a large garden area, a vegetable patch, a small farm with animals and beautiful rocks for sundowners. These things should be an added bonus and not to be relied on since Mother Nature cannot promise when and what will be available.

The house is completely off-grid so is the perfect escape for those looking to relax, read, enjoy friends or explore from area in comfort.

The power comes on at 6pm and off again at 10pm, unless discussed with me via the app. I suggest you bring water if you are not comfortable drinking tap water (I drink it however). Many guests tell me after their stay that I should add solar for heating the water or electricity, but the whole point of the house is to be off-grid and to use as little as possible. You might be surprised about how much you like the darkness... you can see the stars brighter, for sure 😍🌟🔭🌠

This house really suits those who love nature, love having fun and love being in the middle of nowhere. The house has all the wonderful things that come with being out in the bush - monkeys, mice, dust and heat.... I think of them as friends however if you fear them the house might not be for you! The house is also home (they come in and out of the house) of my dogs who are kind and friendly. Again, if you don't like dogs, this house might not be for you.

Other things to note
Fresh goat's milk daily for drinking or making cheese is at a cost of 500ksh per day.

Picking the vegetables from the veggie patch is at a cost of 300ksh per day.

It helps me to keep the garden fully stocked for the next guests! You will need to do these activities with a member of staff in order to know what to do/pick.

The house is 5.4km from Kimuka Trading Centre.

Kajiado, Rift Valley, Kenya

We are in the middle of nowhere on a quiet road, just 30 minutes from Nairobi. Most of the road is tarmac and you can get a taxi to the location with ease. Activities in the area include a walk on Ngong Hills or a visit to Lake Magadi.

There are only a few neighbours close by and none that you can see/hear from the house.

I am Moon, I am from Kenya! I love travel, going on safari and generally having an adventure with my beautiful big, stupid dog Gordon Brown (great dane), my clever little Rangi who is a street dog, and Ed my husband & baby Romilly. We also own and run our own safari camp in Laikipia: The Safari Series. We love meeting new people and especially love when people come to visit us in Kenya so they can bring us good cheese and English teabags. I like travelling and visiting new places!
