A brand new wooden holiday house isituated in small village 60km from Rovaniemi and 40km from the Swedish border. There is a big lake close to the cottage, pineforest and cross country skiing & hiking possibilities. The house is well equipped and modern. This is a good holiday house for families with children. There are two bedrooms, a balcony for sleeping, living room with one bed, sofas, dining table and kitchen, bathroom and sauna. You will see reindeer sometimes close to the house.

The space
This place offers you a peaceful and traditional way of life in Lapland close to nature but not too far from civilization. The house is very cosy all year around and has all the facilities you need. It is in the midst of pine forest, with big windows you feel very close to nature.

The Raanujärvi harbour is about one km from the cottage. There is a place for swimming and a grill hut. In winter you can walk or ski on the lake. There are nice paths for hiking / tracks for cross country skiing in the area.

Reindeer and snow mobile safaris and rental of winter equipment you can ask from a nearby holiday village Lomavietonen. Sled Husky Adventures offers sled dog rides nearby. From Rovaniemi tourist office you can also get all the info you will need about activities.

There are no grocery stores in the village so you should do your shopping on the way. The closest stores are 40km away: K-market Sinettä in Rovaniemi direction and in the south, in Pello, also on the Swedish side (ICA).

You can walk on the village roads and forest paths but please never go to private properties. If you want to go to the lake you should go to the harbour.

If you go to the harbour in wintertime, please do not go to the left toward the bridge on the ice because there are currents that weaken the ice. It is safe to walk to the right close to the shore and then you will see where there are tracks of snow mobiles or skiis. (Please do not walk on the ski track.) In other words: it is safe to walk on the ice where you see that the locals also go ;).

The holiday house is situated in the lakeland area of Lapland, 60km from Rovaniemi and 40km from the Swedish border, Pello. Rovaniemi is the central city of Lapland, and a gate to Lapland. It is also the home town of Santa Claus.

The house is close to lake Raanujärvi. At the harbour there is a fireplace (laavu) for barbecue by the lake. Some nice nearby tracks: "Eeron Polku" toward Pello and "Sompanen" toward Vietonen.. at this route there is a grill hut (kota).

You can rent cross country skiis and bikes from LOMAVIETONEN HOLIDAY VILLAGE, 10km from the cottage. They also arrange snow mobile, dog and reindeer safaris. In Rovaniemi you may rent equipment skiing and other sports from SANTA SPORT and OUNASVAARA SKIING CENTRE.
