Converted from an original farm building, The Old Dairy is fully equipped for two with space for a cot. Warm, comfortable and cosy, there is a double bedroom, shower room and well-fitted out sitting room/kitchen area which is light, bright and decorated in a contemporary yet country style. Guests have a private garden with seating, firepit and BBQ which is a few metres from the property. Guests also have shared use of a heated pool between the end of May and early September.

The space
The Old Dairy is situated on our family farm in a very private and beautiful location in the heart of Devon. It has everything you might need for time away...stay in and enjoy the peace, quiet and wildlife or venture out to visit some of our stunning local landscapes - we are equidistant between the rugged scenery of Dartmoor and the more gentle but no less awe inspiring Exmoor. In the summer months our heated swimming pool is available to relax by whilst during the winter months the cottage invites you to stay in and curl up with a good book or enjoy a favourite film.
If you are up for a country ramble, our village just under 3 miles distant has plenty to offer including a very popular Indian restaurant and two pubs serving food. Or alternatively, light the BBQ and enjoy an evening under the stars in the hidden garden lit by the moon and fairy lights...
We also offer a breakfast basket delivered to your door if you should fancy a morning off from the kitchen!

Where you’ll be

Devon, England, United Kingdom

Beara means 'dairy farm' and our farmhouse has been here for the past 400 years. The local area has many such farms and if you want to experience a truly rural life, this part of Devon can provide it at its best. A few miles south west you will be in Micheal Morpurgo's 'War Horse' country - a story based around a young boy and his horse during World War One. The Duke of York public house in Iddesleigh is where the book was first conceived and serves good food and local ales. In the village of Winkleigh, a 15 minute drive, you can visit Sam's Cider shop selling traditional vintages made from apples from local orchards. Alternatively, why not take the train from our local station, Eggesford and travel into the city of Exeter where you can shop, eat, visit the beautiful cathedral or browse the museum.
Very close-by - a 15 minute drive - is South Molton which is a bustling market town with bi-weekly pannier markets as well as a range of interesting shops and eateries. Most Sundays the town also hosts Flea-Markets or Salvage Fairs where you can while away an hour or two and pick up a bargain or two!
And the beautiful North Devon Coast with its sandy beaches, world-class surf and Hockings' Ice cream is less than 45 minutes away.
Should you want to take a break from the kitchen, a full farmhouse breakfast trolley is available delivered to you at your leisure.

I have been part of Airbnb for over a year now and have really enjoyed the hosting experience. I also work as a secondary school teacher and help out on the farm when I can. I have four children and two grandchildren who have loved growing up on the farm and exploring its hidden countryside. We are very lucky to live in this beautiful part of the country and hope you will enjoy your time here too!
