Dar Zaman is an ancient medina home, restored and opened as a licensed guest house in 2007. We have kind, gentle English and French speaking staff to help you find your way, delicious food, and cosy, clean rooms. We're located at the end of a quiet street where you'll hear just birdsong and the melodic call to prayer. The local hammam is a great opportunity to sample real medina life, and Karima's cooking class is a great way to take a piece of it home with you! :-)

The space

Dar Zaman is a stunning mixture of ancient and modern nestled in the heart of the magical Marrakech medina. The riad is ideally located north of the main square, close to the souks and Medersa Ben Youssef.

The riad offers four double en-suite air conditioned rooms (Carbone and Douiria rooms can be twin), equipped with hairdryer, digital safe and complimentary shower gel and shampoo.

**This listing is for the Terrasse room. See our other listings on AirBnb for the other rooms.

The riad has an interior courtyard, three sitting rooms with two open fireplaces, a dipping pool, sun terrace and free wi-fi throughout.

A sumptuous breakfast is included in the room rate – a choice of fresh bread, croissants, pastries and crepes with honey and jam, homemade yoghurt and eggs, fresh fruit, served with freshly squeezed orange juice, tea and coffee.

Our aim at Dar Zaman is to enable our guests to experience the Marrakech we've come to know and love over the last 10 years. We have a fantastic, hard working team who are ever present yet discreet, helpful and kind. They’ll happily share their excellent knowledge of Marrakech with you - they know where to buy quality babouche at a fair price, where to get the best spa treatments, where to take your cooking class (at our Riad!), and where you can eat a tagine seated metres from a stunning waterfall in the Atlas Mountains.

The riad is a sanctuary from the bustle of the medina – we offer luxurious bedding, complimentary toiletries, hairdryers, wifi, open fireplaces in the salons for the winter months, and a deliciously cool dipping pool for the summer months.

Mint tea is complimentary for all guests – all day and night long. The staff will happily share the recipe and show you how to make it.

Hassan and Yassin treated us like family. They took the time to indicate where to go, tips and tricks. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

If you're returning to Marrakech (or even more so, you should know this if you have never been): It's very important to have a comfortable, safe environment which allows you to relax and feel at home, when you're not out traversing the chaos. Dar Zaman - - IS EXACTLY THIS!!! The staff is warm & welcoming, the accommodations are clean & inviting, and what I found to be even more astounding were the other guests, who I also became close with. All I know is - - The biggest reason that I will be returning to Marrakech is Dar Zaman... and I will bring friends. This Riad stole my heart and I look forward to my next adventure there. Special Notes: - Ask for a guided tour of the Medina & souks - Be sure to order dinner 'in the Riad' one of your nights - If you enjoy cooking - Be sure to request for the cooking class and when the chaos outside the Riad walls is too much... - Request for a day at the Baldi Country Club Peter Mercer, the owner of this Riad has somehow put together a magical environment that has practically rendered me speechless. I traveled alone to this city of insanity... and 4 days later, left my wonderful new family behind. When you stay here, you will understand the mystery of Marrakech, you will feel at home and you will look forward to your return! To be continued... I'm Michael Leedy (URL HIDDEN)

I'm a travel enthusiast, entrepreneur, and the inspiration behind Riad Dar Zaman. I've been living and travelling in Morocco since 2007.

Before 2007 I had a different life! I lived in the US for 11 years working as an ad exec in San Francisco and New York City. I came to Marrakech on holiday in 2005 and don't ask how, but when I left one week later, I'd bought the riad that became the wonderful Dar Zaman.

I'm English, I went to university in London, and I've also lived in Brazil, Germany and Saudi Arabia.
