Beautiful area

Guests love this home’s scenic location.
The Mews is a beautifully converted barn, once part of a larger farm and is now one of a small complex of buildings, surrounded by farmland and overlooking the hills and valleys of the NW Lake District. This location is the most peaceful and picturesque area and is perfect for walking, cycling, running, open water swimming etc.... or for those who like to take things a little easier it is perfect for day trips into the Lakes and toward the lesser known scenic west coast.

The space
First and foremost, the Mews offers a comfortable and light filled space, it's unique, cosy and offers everything you'll need for a relaxing stay.

The main living area is located upstairs which allows natural light to fill the space from sunrise to sunset. There is a well equipped kitchen, dining area, large corner sofa, wood burner and a large picture window which frames stunning views over Fellbarrow day-by-day and starlit skies by night. The main bedroom and luxury shower room is also located upstairs.

With access through the ground floor, the large entrance hall is perfect for storing outdoor gear as well as a comfortable home for your furry companions. Through the hallway nests the utility area, then leading to a good size bathroom. Underfloor heating which sweeps across the whole downstairs, creates a warm cosy feel even on the coldest winter days.

The second double bedroom is also located downstairs as well as an additional family room for optional extra guests (only available if extra guests are booked). The family room is configured to accommodate families/groups of all shapes and sizes, with a double and a single bed, plus a custom bunk bed with three beds for those 5ft and under.

Both downstairs bedrooms have french doors which open to the outdoor space. There is a travel cot, high chair and stair gate for those with babies and toddlers. The barn is equally perfect for any size of group, from a couple who can feel cosy in the upstairs space, to larger groups using the whole space.

We have been holiday letting the property (through an agent ) for just over 2 years and we have had groups of up to 10 who have offered great feedback and also many tips for future guests in our guest book.

The private landscaped garden is accessed through the gate from the front yard. It hosts a large oak table and benches, a fire pit and grass area which is perfect for eating outside and enjoying the beautiful views.

Guest access
The Mews is self-contained with private access and space for up to three cars, two outside the Mews and one to the left of the cattle grid. The property is accessed via a 1/3 mile unmade track which can be a little bumpy.

Other things to note
Just to be aware that the property is surrounded by farmland with many sheep, so those with dogs must be careful. There are also five other dogs and a cat who live in the two adjacent properties so please take care when driving up the track and into the farm.

Neighbourhood highlights

The area is very scenic, rural countryside with easy access to all amenities in local towns and villages. Local walks take you to Fellbarrow with beautiful views onto the soleway. A slightly longer amble takes you over to Loweswater, the nearest lake and along to The Kirkstile Inn, our favourite local pub with views over to Grasmoor. The nearest pub is either Old Posting House in Deanscales, The Wheatsheaf in Lorton or The Kirkstile Inn.
