The Barn is a self contained annex attached to our house, The Old Bakery, but with its own private access. We also have "The Cob" and "The Bakehouse", each suitable for 2 adults.

Situated in an idyllic quiet position overlooking our garden and field beyond, in the historic village of Thriplow.

A minutes walk and you reach the award winning community run gastro pub.

Only 8 miles from Cambridge, so perfect for working in the city or surrounding area - a homely alternative to a hotel.

The space
The Barn annex is a new addition to the original Old Bakery house. The fixtures and fittings have been chosen with loving care and attention to detail and to the highest possible standard - specifically with Airbnb in mind. It is a new build with a contemporary and stylish ambience.
We have developed The Barn accommodation specifically for guests who are looking for a more flexible and homely alternative to a hotel. The Barn kitchen includes 'slow cooker', a combination microwave oven (with grill) and a portable electric hob, but if you're looking for a more substantial kitchen (plus also a separate sofa/sitting area) please look on Airbnb at our other two properties, 'The Bakehouse Thriplow' and 'The Cob Thriplow' as both have conventional ovens and hobs and sofas.

The Barn accommodation includes; a large bedroom (with King size bed), two comfortable chairs to relax in (whether to read/watch TV/enjoy the view), desk with lamp and chair (perfect workspace with a view!), radio and Smart TV; a lobby area (with another table & two chairs); a separate kitchen with sink, fridge, kettle, combination microwave oven (with grill), a portable electric hob, a 'Crock Pot' slow cooker (but please note no conventional oven nor hob), toaster, washing machine, Nespresso coffee machine, and a bathroom (with walk in shower inc. rainfall shower head and a separate bath, mirror with shaver socket, basin and toilet).
Guest access
The black park style railing gate is the entrance to our property and The Barn has its own exclusive parking area on the our driveway.
Guests have full access to the courtyard area immediately outside The Barn. There is an outside table and chairs so you can sit and watch the world go by, perhaps whilst enjoying your coffee and complimentary 'Welcome pack' breakfast. (We provide milk, coffee, tea (inc herbal), muesli/granola, yoghurt, bread, spread and jam/marmalade - more than enough for your first night!) The rear garden is private with no access for Airbnb guests.
Interaction with guests

Other things to note:
Within The Barn you'll also find a workspace (table, lamp and chair) upstairs and additional table and chairs in the lobby too, an iron and ironing board, hairdryer, all bedlinen and towels and good wifi connection. Plus a self check-in key box by The Barn front door too.
We provide two pillows per guest with different levels of support (Duck Feather & Down pillows, Luxury Anti-Allergy Microfibre pillows).
All household items such as hand soap, washing up liquid, tea towels, kitchen roll, toilet paper etc. are provided.

Guest access
The black park style gate is the entrance to our property and The Barn has its own parking space, exclusively for Airbnb guests.

Guests have full access to the area immediately outside The Barn front door. There is an outside table and chairs so you can sit by the olive tree in the courtyard with a lovely view of the village green, perhaps whilst enjoying your coffee and complimentary 'Welcome pack' breakfast. (We provide milk, coffee, tea (inc herbal), muesli/granola, yoghurts, bread, spread, jam & marmalade - more than enough for your first night!).

We have a Tandem bicycle which guests of The Barn, The Cob and The Bakehouse are welcome to borrow, perhaps to explore the countryside or to visit the numerous local pubs, cafes and restaurants.

The rear garden is private with no access for Airbnb guests.

Neighbourhood highlights

Thriplow is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 and is laid out as a loose figure-of-eight of lanes with a lattice of footpaths and green fields between. While the oldest dated cottage is 1687,
there is much that is older and deep seated in the past too.
The footpaths take you through fields, woods and orchid meadows; in spring, the whole village is awash with daffodils.
Indeed Thriplow is famous for its annual Daffodil Weekend and Country Fair: it’s a village fair that attracts up to 10,000 visitors for the weekend who come to enjoy a range of rural attractions, stalls and village hospitality and is reported as being one of the best loved charity events in Cambridgeshire!
The village is an active and thriving community with many village groups, interests and activities, including a cricket club where you can watch cricket during the summer.

Our pub (the award-winning The Green Man) is just a 2 minute walk from The Barn, across The Green. It is a community owned pub and Alex and his team have built up an amazing reputation in the local area for offering both fresh, seasonal food and Tapas too. If you’d like to eat there during your stay we recommend you book.
Thriplow also has a community run well-stocked Village Shop, where you can drop in for a coffee and perhaps fresh baked croissants or pastries too.

Lives in Thriplow, United Kingdom
My husband, Richard, and I run our own business from home. We have a son who works in London and a daughter who lives and works in Australia. We have lived in The Old Bakery for over 20 years – starting off living in a mobile home in the garden for 18 months whilst we renovated the house! We have now completed refurbishing The Bakehouse, The Cob and The Barn and love welcoming Airbnb guests.
