About this listing
A comfy corner of a charming, Old Town Anacortes cottage with a view of the private garden. Beaches, downtown shopping, marina, theaters, library, parks, whale watching and other tourist activities all within 6 blocks or less.
This is a private room in my home. It is about 10' x 10' with a queen bed, bedside table, small closet, and desk and computer you may use. It is called the 11th St Farm because permaculture principles have been used to catch rainwater, grow 7 varieties of fruits, many vegetables, and chickens on a city lot.
*Chicken update: there is a temporary chicken hiatus due to a raccoon-induced breach in security. They will return (well, new ones, that is) soon.
Guests will have access to the bathroom with claw foot tub and shower, the full kitchen, wifi-access, and the backyard along with whatever fruit or veggies are growing there at the time.
Interaction with guests
Mira, a marine scientist, teacher and naturalist, will be delighted to welcome you and give you the inside scoop on what is fun to do while in this historic, seaside town. If desired, she may be hired to lead a guided hike in the treasured Anacortes Community Forest Lands, Deception Pass State Park, or Washington Park, where you can watch porpoises feeding in the tide rips.
Other things to note

Hello, I am Mira. I am a Pacific Northwest girl who loves outdoor adventuring, studying marine life, teaching kids, and being Mom to my teenage boy. When not on or under the water or in a classroom or lab, I love to explore natural places in other parts of the world. I also love coming back to my sweet, little home after being away.
I am pretty darn independent, so as your host I will mostly leave you be, but feel free to chat and ask for fun things to do nearby. When I travel I like to have local connections so I can get to know some people and experience what the place is really like. But I like my privacy, too. I hope I can offer that same experience in my little, seaside town.
