About this listing

A comfy corner of a charming, Old Town Anacortes cottage with a view of the private garden. Beaches, downtown shopping, marina, theaters, library, parks, whale watching and other tourist activities all within 6 blocks or less.

The space

This is a private room in my home. It is about 10' x 10' with a queen bed, bedside table, small closet, and desk and computer you may use. It is called the 11th St Farm because permaculture principles have been used to catch rainwater, grow 7 varieties of fruits, many vegetables, and chickens on a city lot.
*Chicken update: there is a temporary chicken hiatus due to a raccoon-induced breach in security. They will return (well, new ones, that is) soon.

Guest access

Guests will have access to the bathroom with claw foot tub and shower, the full kitchen, wifi-access, and the backyard along with whatever fruit or veggies are growing there at the time.

Interaction with guests

Mira, a marine scientist, teacher and naturalist, will be delighted to welcome you and give you the inside scoop on what is fun to do while in this historic, seaside town. If desired, she may be hired to lead a guided hike in the treasured Anacortes Community Forest Lands, Deception Pass State Park, or Washington Park, where you can watch porpoises feeding in the tide rips.

Other things to note

One of the residents is a small, white terrier named Taz. He is extremely friendly and if you don't like, or are allergic to dogs, this will be a no-go for you.

Second time to be at this lovely Casa! Immediately felt right at home again and like we were staying with friends, not any commercialized experience! The location is unbeatable - so close to walk to downtown and the marina. Also wonderful walking in the surrounding neighborhood with beautiful views and architecture! Mira is a superb host and she made a sumptuous breakfast for us to enjoy. Taz - her cute dog, acted like I never left. Her son is an outstanding young man who helped us check out. We had a restful and restorative weekend here. Thanks again Mira!

It was great staying with Mira during our brief trip to Anacortes. Her place is very warm and cozy. It's within walking distance to the historic downtown, marina, the farmer's market and grocery stores/restaurants. She has a very playful and lively Jack Russel Terrier named Taz who will bark when meeting you and then lick you to death:) he loves playing tug-of-war with his basketball. Mira was an amazing host who even cooked us the best blueberry pancakes in the morning. Her backyard is a very quiet place to enjoy lunch and suntan on a lawn chair. She made us feel welcome and at home. Hoping to come back soon!

Mira's place is terrific and a large part of that is because Mira is terrific. The house is super easy to access by car and in a quiet neighborhood, but just a few blocks walking distance to everything in town. Ideal. We had our own room and bath downstairs, both with ample comfort. Mira is able to give great insight about the area and also made us the most delicious breakfast I've ever had of items foraged and picked from the garden. She is a delightful host and we would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Mira's home is a lovely place that I recommend to anyone! Mira, Tristin and Taz were welcoming and friendly with me and they made me feel like at home. The room was clean, I had enough space for my belongings and the bed is sooo comfy and soft! You can find restaurants and shops in the nearby and also all the transportations you may need. Plus, Mira cooks a rich and yummy breakfast! You will love this place for sure!

Mira is awesome, as is the house and the dog. We typically never do shared rooms because it can be...well, either overbearing or uncomfortable or whatever but this wasn't at all. We had access to the house, Mira made us feel comfortable enough that for the duration of our stay in Anacortes we felt like we had our own home. Would highly suggest for anyone coming to town to use her spot if she has it available.

My stay at the 11th Street Farm was short but thoroughly enjoyable. My room was very comfortable and the house has a very relaxed, warm vibe. I enjoyed my conversations with Mira, and she sent me on my way with an excellent breakfast of blueberry pancakes. And it was great to hang out with the dogs!

Mira User ProfileMira is a superhost.

Hello, I am Mira. I am a Pacific Northwest girl who loves outdoor adventuring, studying marine life, teaching kids, and being Mom to my teenage boy. When not on or under the water or in a classroom or lab, I love to explore natural places in other parts of the world. I also love coming back to my sweet, little home after being away.

I am pretty darn independent, so as your host I will mostly leave you be, but feel free to chat and ask for fun things to do nearby. When I travel I like to have local connections so I can get to know some people and experience what the place is really like. But I like my privacy, too. I hope I can offer that same experience in my little, seaside town.
