Set amid the stunning scenery of the Cairngorm National Park it's a superb base for outdoor enthusiasts, photographers or just plain nature lovers. Situated in the heart of castle and whisky country, it's also ideally located for visiting the numerous Speyside distilleries and historic sites in the area.

The space
The bespoke design of Stronavaich combines an unusual blend of contemporary and traditional architecture making it a recognisable local landmark. The rooms are furnished in a bright, comfortable style with modern facilities including ensuite bathrooms (one with ensuite sauna), flat screen satellite TVs, free Wifi and a small but fully equipped guest kitchenette. There is a cosy dining/living room with a wood-burning stove, a reading room with complimentary whisky taster (when available), spacious drying and storage facilities for outdoor gear, and ample parking space.

Surrounded by it's own grounds, the house is approached from road by a tree-lined, gravelled driveway making it a truly peaceful highland getaway that is perfect for family get-togethers. Guests are welcome to explore the pastures and woodland or just relax and unwind amid the formal garden and patio. Where you’ll be

Tomintoul, Scotland, United Kingdom

Stronavaich lies between Tomintoul (a few miles to the north) and The Lecht Ski Area (a few miles to the south). Tomintoul is the highest village in the highlands and has a visitor centre, a collection of shops including a small general store/Post Office (selling basic food and supplies) plus several cafes, pubs and hotels that serve hot food as wells as an excellent restaurant.

Whatever your interests, abilities or energy levels Stronavaich provides a perfect base to explore this beautiful, unspoilt corner of Scotland - there’s plenty to keep you busy right here on our doorstep!
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES: Nestling within the eastern Cairngorms, the area around Stronavaich offers a stunning natural playground for outdoor enthusiasts including mountaineers, hikers, bikers and skiers. 'Traditional' rural sports such as golf, fishing, and pony trekking are also catered for locally. Above all, these superb landscapes provide unlimited opportunities for nature lovers to explore and enjoy the scenery and to discover and observe the rich wildlife within it.
WHISKY TRAILS: The area around the Stronavaich has the largest concentration of whisky distilleries in Scotland with more than 50 being located within a 40-mile radius. World famous brands like Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, Glen Grant and, Macallan are nearby, plus many other well-known brands (and lesser-known gems) in nearby Speyside and beyond.
HERITAGE AND CULTURE: With over 300 castles, stately homes and historic ruins this corner of Scotland boasts more historic sites per acre than anywhere else in the country. Plenty of these are within easy striking distance of Stronavaich, including the striking landmark of Corgarff Castle, the Queen's residence at Balmoral, the iconic baronial-style Craigievar Castle (said to have inspired Walt Disney) as well as lesser known 'hidden gems' like Ballindalloch Castle. Just over the Ladder Hills behind Stronavaich, lies the remote hidden seminary of Scalan which played a vital, secret and truly fascinating role in the survival of the Catholic Church in Scotland.
