Entire cottage: Kings Court Cottage is a delightful 1850s stone cottage set in a historic, flower-filled courtyard, 10 metres off Pateley Bridge's quaint High St that has won British High St of the year.

The Dales village of Pateley Bridge is at the heart of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with a huge range of delightful walks, sights, and attractions.... many of them straight from the door.

We thoroughly deep-clean it with anti-viral cleaner before every stay.

The space
Originally a Cobbler’s workshop, this stone-built cottage has been converted to provide 2 double bedrooms (or a double and a twin) upstairs, with a bathroom that has a shower and a separate whirlpool bath. Downstairs is the cosy living room with log-burning stove, sofas, Smart TV, and dining table. This is open to the well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, oven+hob, fridge and freezer, microwave, butlers sink, and large larder cupboard.

Broadband is Vodafone unlimited fibre 76, which gives an average of 63Mb.

The cottage is quietly tucked away in ‘Kings Court’ but shopping is still really close by, with an excellent Spar (open 7am - 10pm every day including Sunday) and an award winning butcher both within 20 seconds walk out on the High St. A few yards further in either direction takes you to a range of other excellent local shops including fishmonger, bakery, pharmacy, hardware, the oldest sweet shop in the world, a range of delightful cafes, fish and chips, pizza (take away), Italian restaurant, Indian restaurant and much more.

The Dales village of Pateley Bridge is at the heart of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with a huge range of delightful walks, sights, and attractions.... many of them straight from the door. The river Nidd, just a minute from the cottage, runs through the dale and offers delightful strolls along its banks, by fields and meadows, in either direction.

Things you should know:

* The cottage is small - just as described but no more! But we have lived there happily ourselves for months on end and it has everything you need. The bedrooms each have beds and storage (built-in wardrobe in one, chest of drawers in the other) but little else. We've maximised the bed sizes for comfort rather than left a lot of space around them. One bedroom is a double. The other is usually made up as a kingsize double but we can easily convert it to a twin (2 singles) if that would suit you better - just let us know.

* There's no garden, but you have direct access to the picturesque courtyard with seating, and there is a small backyard belonging to the cottage. A few steps through the old cobbled archway and you have fabulous country views.

* There is free parking, but not directly outside (the cottage is in a large courtyard and hence tucked away from traffic). After you've dropped off your things, you can park (for free) on most of the streets behind the courtyard.

* One of the specialties of Pateley Bridge is the amazing butchers, with award-winning meat and pies. Indeed, World Champion(!) meat pies are baked in a tiny bakehouse accessed through the small rear courtyard of the cottage. It means that you can see the pie magic in action, but please be aware that the bakers go through the rear courtyard throughout the day. It can make for a good chat, but does mean the rear courtyard isn't really a private place.

Where you’ll be

Pateley Bridge, England, United Kingdom

Pateley Bridge, set within Nidderdale in the Yorkshire Dales, is a special place for what it offers on its doorstep as well as a short drive away.
It has deservedly won both the Britain in Bloom award, and High Street of the Year. The cottage is tucked away in a pretty courtyard over 200 years old, with a cobbled archway that takes you to the High Street, full of specialist local shops and ancient listed buildings. These include the oldest sweet shop in the world, in a building dated 1661 and row upon row of glass jars filled with handmade traditional sweets. Next to it is a rare treat; CocoaJoe's which makes the most extraordinary range of hot (or iced!) chocolate drinks out of real melted chocolates - they offer a range of 12 distinct single-origin chocolates to do this, ranging up to 100% cocoa solid content. Or wander to the King St Craft Workshops (again, only 150m from the cottage) which brings together a group of artists, makers and designers. Many have gained a national and international reputation for originality and excellence. Visitors are welcome to look around the display areas and gain a stimulating insight into the creative process.
Next to the Workshops is the fascinating Nidderdale Museum housed in the old Workhouse. It has won the National Heritage Museum of the Year Award and has 11 themed rooms, each bringing to life a different aspect of the rich history of the Dale.
The latest addition to the award-winning high street is a large gallery containing a world-class display of original film posters; wonderful just to browse ...or buy.

We live in the beautiful village of Pateley Bridge in the Yorkshire Dales. We moved here for the combination of the pretty, historic village with its award-winning high street full of local shops .... and the stunning scenery all around. The stone cottage we're listing is our first little 'home' here but now we've moved a couple of minutes walk up the road. We have traveled quite a lot throughout the world and love discovering and enjoying new places....which is something we hope to help our guests to do (if they want to!) in and around this lovely spot and the amazing Yorkshire Dales.

The village, the Dale, and the whole Yorkshire Dales in which it sits, provides some of the greatest natural beauty anywhere (it's why we first moved here), and we enjoy helping our guests to experience it to the best. We have lots of ideas if you would like them!
