Welcome to our remote home away from home. A very desirable waterfront acreage property on Big Bar Lake. Our cottage is over 2500 sq ft with 5 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. Room to sleep 10 guests very comfortably.
The space
DESCRIPTION
Our cottage features a fully equipped kitchen with access to a BBQ. All linens, soaps, shampoo/conditioners provided. Laundry also available.
Upper level features large master bedroom w/ full ensuite and lake views. Two other bedrooms up; one with double bed and other with 2 twin size bunk beds (suitable for children of all ages). Playpen also available for infants or young toddlers.
Our basement level has a large entertainment area w/ a TV, DVD’s, pool table, darts, and a bar. Games and activities also available. It features two bedrooms both with double beds and a full bathroom.
Outside we have a fire pit with seating, large grass area for playing, and a shed with few things including life jackets (limited sizes available). Please stay up to date on all camp fire bans in BC and follow restrictions accordingly.
THE LAKE
The lake is one of the true gems of the Cariboo region with beautiful aqua blue water that Big Bar Lake is known for. Big Bar Lake Park is easily accessible and provides a wide range of recreational opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts—boating, canoeing and kayaking, swimming, wildlife viewing, hiking and fishing. Public boat launch access is available at the provincial park.
Abundant rainbow trout are to be found in Big Bar and fishing is active in all seasons. Rolling ranch lands, and forests await your exploration. Magnificent wildlife and outdoor recreation year-round.
LOCATION
You will find Big Bar Lake on the Cariboo Plateau of south central British Columbia, lying at the base of the Marble Mountain Range. It is on the edge of wilderness, but within a 5-hour drive of the Lower Fraser Valley. This scenery rich area of BC remains to be discovered by most of those seeking refuge from the busy, hectic life of the Lower Mainland. Big Bar Lake is a place you can feel yourself going back in time.
Big Bar Lake contains some of the cleanest, most clear water to be found in the region. Big Bar Lake is a marl lake, meaning that the minerals in the water and the lake bottom give it beautiful two-tone colors. The area is known for its great natural beauty and for its peace and quiet. Towing behind boats is not allowed, and there is a 10 km maximum speed limit on the water.
It is located in the lee of the Marble Mountain Range gives the Big Bar Lake area a unique micro-climate, with more days of sunshine than areas in the south central interior of British Columbia. Winters are cold enough to freeze the lake’s surface solid, while summers are hot enough to provide wonderful swimming in the lake’s warm waters.
ACCESS
Take Highway 1 to Hope. Follow directions for Highway 1 through Hope and up the Fraser and Thompson Rivers Canyons to Cache Creek. At Cache Creek head north on Highway 97. Go through Clinton, then about 8 km north of Clinton, at the top of the long hill, turn left onto Big Bar Road. Proceed about 25 km on this well maintained, all weather gravel road, until you come to Marriott Road. Turn right onto Marriott Road and proceed to the property.
