Limeslake Farm is an unspoilt country valley homestead- 27 acres of farm, ancient woodland and river. Friendly farm animals and stunning wildlife. On the southern fringe of Exmoor, its completely away from roads and offers a whole valley of priceless tranquility, with a chorus of birds and farm animals. Its lambing time in March, so come now if you like to see the newborns frolic.

The space
The Byre offers spacious, beautiful, hidden accommodation, down a long private drive way down the deep lanes of Devon. There are breathtaking views across the valley and access to the joys of the Exmoor wilderness and the stunning North Devon coastline. Sleeps 4, with additional cot available.

We follow Airbnb’s enhanced cleaning protocol, which was developed with expert guidance:
We sanitize high-touch surfaces, down to the doorknob
We use cleaners and disinfectants approved by global health agencies, and I wear protective gear to help prevent cross-contamination
We clean each room using extensive cleaning checklists
We provide extra cleaning supplies, so you can clean as you stay
We comply with local laws and hold Visit England's 'Good to Go' certificate for enhanced cleanliness, abiding by their additional safety or cleaning guidelines

Guest access
Guests have their own tranquil grassed garden and patio. Beyond is a small, fenced duck pond (with runner ducks). Due to current Covid-19 risks, you are requested not to go in the duck compound at present. I have moved the feeder near the gate so you can get a good view of the ducks instead. In line with current government requirements, I'm afraid we cannot currently allow access to the stables and barns or invite you to help feed the animals. You still have access to 27 acres of smallholding, including ancient woodland and a river meadow teaming with deer, badgers, foxes, a myriad of wild birds and pheasants. We request that you take care when touching gates, fences and bridges and wear gloves.

Other things to note
Come and enjoy North Devon's beautiful coastline and sandy beaches, historic properties, gardens, mysterious moorland and picturesque villages. Or just stay on the farm and rest, play, cuddle the animals and throw balls for the dog.

I live at the farm with my partner, Ged and 3 teenagers (who come and go from college, travelling etc). I work as a freelance academic for universities and do some local work. We run the smallholding as a sustainable way to grow our own food and experiment with various projects. We are not a commercial farm, and favour low impact methods using primarily hand tools. We do our own traditional hedge-laying, coppicing etc. Ged works in film or is here doing local stuff. We muddle through, escaping the rat race in whatever ways we can. Our children grew up here, fiddling around with animals for company and a wild landscape to explore. We feel very lucky. We're from London originally and have lived in Devon 10 years or so. I think we've subconsciously created the place that we were always looking for to run away to when we lived in town. For visitors, we aim for homely, spacious, comfortable living with a proper taste of being in the countryside. Its great having The Byre. All the people who have passed through so far have been absolutely lovely, bringing us different views on the world and stories of all sorts that we wouldn't otherwise hear. Its nice for us to share this beautiful place.

You are welcome to visit the animals out in the fields and the dogs, cats and chickens will all come and visit you! Please stay completely separate from us humans for now and enjoy the tranquility of your own space.
