Welcome to our simple and cosy Bush Camp Lodges, set within 70 acres in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - the Quantock Hills. Tucked away in your own private hidden valley, nestled in the Somerset countryside, you have sole use of 2 or 3 Lodges & the rustic but utilitarian Bush Camp Shelter, kitchen, BBQ and picnic area. A complete getaway from the “madding crowd”. Please note: There is no wifi and little mobile reception, just yourselves in a beautiful spot of pristine countryside.

The space
If you like to be in a beautiful country setting with no other buildings/houses in sight. If you are outdoorsy and enjoy the adventure of staying somewhere comfier than camping but not quite glamping, where you are able to feel at peace with nature, and have sole use of the Lodges and the Bush Camp Shelter, you will love this unique location.

You and your group will have exclusive use of the site with the space all to yourselves. Numbers allowed to congregate together will depend on the government regulations at that time.

Guest access
You will have sole use of the Bush Camp area which is fenced, with space to roam. There are paths on the farm and many local walks. The biking, both road and mountain, locally is fantastic. There are ponds, woods, and paths nearby and plenty of space to find your own spot to relax and read a book or kick a ball with your friends.

Other things to note
There are ponds near the Bush Camp. Please do not swim in them or throw anything into them. If you have young children its your responsibility to know where they are at all times.
We have many tasks around the farm which are out of bounds and not to be used.
We have dogs on the farm that may come and visit out of curiosity. Please do not encourage them by feeding them. If you have an issue with dogs please make us aware.
You can light a fire in the Braii area and there is a wood burning stove in the BC Shelter with wood provided. Only adults must light these fires and must 100% responsible for them at all times. Fires are not permitted anywhere else on the property.
Smoking is allowed in designated areas outside and metal fire buckets are supplied for the stubs. This is a beautiful area and we try and keep it litter free.
All gates must be left as they are found. Any fields with stock in must not be walked through.

This is a rural location with very little noise, or light pollution and the BC has been designed to complement this. There is a beautiful little ancient church in the village, and we neighbour Fyne Court, a National Trust wild garden which is now open. We are on the edge of the beautiful Quantock Hills where you can almost walk to the coast without crossing a road. Exmoor and the coast are not far and there are masses of walking and cycling routes to explore. We are in driving distance of the Devon coastline for water sports and the Mendips hills for rock-based sports.

Lydeard Farm has been used for more than 20 years by hundreds of clients as a center for outdoor education and activities for both youth and corporate clients, giving a huge amount of enjoyment as well as learning. The location is unique. We built our wooden lodges in 2019 and they need to be enjoyed, so we have decided to offer this stunning location to "family bubbles" for private use for the foreseeable future.
