About this listing

Enjoy the a quiet , private studio with private bath in Nassau, Bahamas. Five minutes from the airport and less than 1k walking to great amenities and across the road from beautiful Old Fort Bay. Well appointed and comfortable. Away from crowded downtown area.

The space

Our studio is quiet and comfortable.

Guest access

Guests have access to a courtyard and studio on the ground floor of a 3 story house. We also have a rocky access lane to Old Fort Bay, where you can swim or wade to the prettiest beach in Nassau.

Interaction with guests

If you want privacy , its your's, but if you want to get the inside scoop on Nassau we are happy to help.

Other things to note

We live on a small island and occasionally we have power cuts. When this happens there is nothing that I can do but wait for the power to come back on. Usually power outages last less then two hours. It's part of life in the tropics.

We have snakes - but there are no venomous snakes in The Bahamas- so if you see one, do not be afraid. They are MUCH more afraid of you.

Cars drive on the left so PLEASE pay attention when crossing the roads, always look BOTH ways.

Scooters can be a fun way to explore, but they can also be very dangerous, wear a helmet! If you rent a scooter bring it inside the courtyard for the night. They are easily stolen.

What a vacation! I had wanted a getaway away from the hustle and bustle of resorts and downtown life and this was the ideal spot (not to say it's not easily accessible from here). The water access is literally right across the road with a short little walk down. We spent every day there and it was literally just us, the water and amazing scenery. It was just the two of us so we were able to lay out comfortably; there isn't too much room. The buses do come by regularly before 1800 and it's no more than 1.50-2.00. We went downtown to eat one night and a 25 minute ride was still 1.50. Be sure to let them know when you need to get off as there wasn't any actual bus stops. It was incredibly easy. The taxi drivers give out their numbers to call, so we had a lovely lady always usually ready to pick us up with no more than a 15 minute wait. Paid anywhere from 15-25 dollars. It was always ideal to catch the bus for dinner and a taxi back. Gillian was a fantastic host. She accommodated for us to check-in earlier than 1600 due to our early arrival time. She was always accessible to help and even offered to drive us to the store or to the downtown area when she was available. We also had access to a couple of her bikes and it made the trip to the grocery store way quicker. It was only about maybe a 7-10 minute ride. I would definitely come back to this spot again. The privacy and quietness was much needed and relaxing! Food. We tried out a spot Gillian recommends which was Wildfire the first day, a pizza spot, and it was great. Mahogany House was pricey but worth it and just up the road. Studio is also just up the road and you can see the water and it had a very chill atmosphere. We went to Twin Brothers down at the fish fry area in downtown Nassau, where there were many different places to eat at; it was also delicious. We also grilled up hot dogs on Gillian's grill so that we could catch the sunset on the rocks. Take towel to sit on if that interests you. You have to go a bit to the left on the rockier parts to really see it. Fantastic vacation.

Gillian's place is great! Cute path to water just across the street, beaches a short drive away. Quiet, peaceful. The courtyard is also perfect for lounging, yoga, or meditation. We'd stay again! Advice for staying at her place: bring eye masks for sleeping at night if you are sensitive to light, and definitely rent a car. Everything in the Bahamas is easier to get to in a car.

We loved the place so much the first time that we came back:) Gillian is a phenomenal host & the communication was speedy making it to talk & get suggestions for what to do for the day. I would recommend to EVERYONE to go during low tide to Old Fort Bay beach. It only takes about 10 minutes to wade & the beach is beautiful. There is a small electric oven & grill making it easy for food. Will definitely be returning again. The best part of Gillian's place is how peaceful it is. Thank you so much!

Gillian's place was quiet and I loved the swimming access being right there. Enabled me to get one last ocean dip in before catching my flight home. Her description is very accurate. If/when I visit again I will arrange some sort of transport. The shops are walkable (as stated) as is Love Beach but are a bit far to do regularly. Busses are not really on a schedule (they come along roughly every 20 minutes through the work day) but are cheap and convenient if you don't mind waiting. Side note: Love Beach was great! Perfect for swimming and casual snorkeling. Beach chairs only $3. Lots of shade and sunny space. Clean bathrooms and a fresh water shower. No people selling items on the beach other than the offer of the chair but a bar and souvenir shop if you want to get something. Overall the studio was quiet, comfortable and clean. Gillian, her children and her pets were all gracious hosts.

Gillian's place is in a nice and quite neighborhood. It's a little far from the main city I learned, but that's not a problem if you plan accordingly. The place was clean, the little private beach area was great, and Gillian was a fantastic host that communicated great and went above and beyond when it came to making suggestions about places to go and things to do. Overall it was a great stay and my friends and I were able to have a great spring break in Nassau. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to visit the island.

I am a 5th generation Bahamian and I have spent most of my life in The Bahamas, except for a few years in Ontario at boarding school and university. I am easy going and friendly. I have three amazing kids and we are usually fostering some type of rescued animal, from kittens to kestrals and everything in between.

The five things I cannot live without (besides my children) are:
cold drinking water
the sea
the moon
