Welcome to our mountain homestead! The Pearl on the Farm is a 1951 Spartan Imperial Mansion that we have lovingly restored into a perfectly quirky mid-century modern holiday rental. GLAMPING AT IT'S BEST!!!

Our little family lives in the historic farmhouse on the property nestled in the mountains of Madison County, NC. We have a flower garden, a large vegetable garden, with chickens, honey bees and more! It's a beautiful place just 20 minutes from Asheville and 30 minutes from Hot Springs.

The space
The Pearl on the Farm is a restored 1951 Spartan Imperial Mansion. These aluminum trailers were built by the Spartan Aircraft Co out of Oklahoma and are an amazing example of Mid Century Modern Design. With lots of wood, rounded corners, and tons of natural light, they are one of the most unique pieces of American design history.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A GLAMPING EXPERIENCE, SO PLEASE SET YOUR EXPECTATIONS ACCORDINGLY. Please consider this before booking. Refunds will not be given for any of the reasons noted above.

We spent all winter bringing this beauty back to life, with refinished walls, new floors, custom built-in furniture and natural wood pieces. It was an amazing experience and we are so honored to be able to share this with you!

Inside, there is a custom built-in couch with lots of pillows for lazy mornings with coffee or lazy afternoons with a book.

There is a maple bar that functions as a breakfast bar or as a work station.

A small kitchen sits across the form the bar, which is stocked with just about everything you need, including a coffee maker, mini fridge, and microwave.

In the center of the trailer there is a twin bed that can also function as a day bed, or another great spot to curl up with a book or a movie.

The beautiful wood is on full display in the master bedroom, which has a queen sized bed in it, as well as a skylight so you can watch the stars form your bed.

There is a shower room and bathroom combination, also know as a wet bathroom. REMINDER this is a camper, so its a glamping experience. The toilet is a composting toilet, which works incredibly well, doesn't smell at all, is super easy to operate, and a very cool piece of engineering. Full explanation and instructions will be in the welcome book.

Then trailer sits overlooking a large field of vegetables, fruit trees and flowers, which can all be viewed from you own private deck. The rest of the property is covered in flowers, plants, vegetables, and herbs. We keep chickens, bees, and have a 2 dogs and 2 cats. The dogs remain in their own area, but the cats roam free and are just about the sweetest creatures in all the land! Most of the land is free to explore, we just ask you take care where you walk.

Where you’ll be

Mars Hill, North Carolina, United States

Mars Hill is a small community nestled in the Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina. We are conveniently located 20 minutes from Asheville, 10 minutes form Marshall and 30 minutes from Hot Springs. This area is renowned for it's natural beauty, it's incredible hiking and cycling, fishing, rafting, camping, and overall beauty.

Wolf Laurel Ski Lodge is only about 20 minutes from here and offers greta skiing and snowboarding, as well as snow tubing, in the summer months, there is some greta hiking in that area.

Just on the other side of the mountain, no more than 10 minutes away is the brand new Bailey Mountain Bike Park, which opened in 2015. This is the largest downhill mountain bike park in the US and is the only one that offers night riding! It is a beautiful facility with shuttle services and lots of amazing trails, for the adventurer in you, this is an amazing place to go.

If you are looking for something a little more low key, then we would suggest spending an hour or two at Hot Springs Resort and Spa. There you can get a massage or any other spa treatment, but the winner is for sure a soak in their outdoor natural hot spring tubs. They are private, situated right on the river, and are filled with water that comes from deep in the ground. Its is warm and soothing and you will feel incredibly relaxed afterwards. It is a great way to end a day exploring Max Patch, and incredible bald about 35 minutes from Hot Springs. There you can picnic with a 360 degree view of the mountains. It is truly breathtaking.

These are just a small taste of what the area has to offer, and we are here to help you have the best time you can, so please don't hesitate to ask!

During your stay

As we are homesteaders, we are at home most days working on various projects around the home and property, so we will be around to answer questions, give advice on day trips and activities. As this is a working homestead, we recommend caution when you are exploring the farm, as there are plenty of places to trip and fall.
