Welcome to The Cottage!

The Cottage is a spacious, dog friendly retreat with stunning views over Dorset's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Equipped with a super kingsize four poster bed, garden area, private entrance and parking, The Cottage is the perfect escape from the pace of modern life.
You’re just 10-15 minute drive from the iconic Jurassic Coast beaches, as well as having beautiful walks from your doorstep.

The space
Described by recent guests as: '... An absolute treasure of a find!', '... Perfect for a couple's getaway.' and '... The sort of place you want to keep a secret so not too many people find out about it.'

The Cottage is the perfect base from which to explore Dorset's most loved scenery. You can enjoy country walks along the footpaths from your doorstep, or drive a short way to the iconic beaches of the Jurassic Coast.

Nestled at the end of a country lane that ends in a bridle path, there are no noisy main roads and constant through traffic and pollution to disturb your peace and quiet.

There are two main living areas in The Cottage: a cosy bedroom/ living room, where you can fall asleep in the super king size bed to the crackling of the fire and warm glow of the woodburner on chilly winter nights, relax and watch TV or read a book on the big squashy leather sofa: and the large eat-in kitchen with a gas rangemaster cooker, fridge/freezer and two lounge chairs by the window so you can cook and chat with a glass of wine or a cup of tea in total comfort. You will find a selection of teas and coffee for you to help yourself to throughout your stay.

The bathroom is located off the entrance hallway and features a deep bath with a rainfall shower, a loo with a beautiful view over the valley, and towels and dressing gowns. There is also a utility room off the kitchen with its own entrance, which is perfect if you have brought your dog or you want to run something through the washing machine and tumble drier. There is a tap on the wall outside this door also (perfect for muddy boots and paws).

The Cottage is private and secluded but is not isolated. Originally one long cottage, it is now split into two, and is semi-detached with The Snug, another holiday let, occupying the other side. The Pond House and Cabin (two other Airbnb listings) are located in their own gardens behind. The Cottage and The Snug benefit from their own gardens and parking and are private from one another, but make the perfect pair if you're looking to get away with friends or family members. I am on hand if you have any questions or you need some extra firewood. Please do get in touch if you have any questions about the facilities or location.

We're dog friendly here and so a maximum of 2 well behaved dogs are welcome to join you at The Cottage. You must add your pet to the booking and pay the additional £15 fee.

Where you’ll be

Netherbury, England, United Kingdom

We are a 10-15 minute drive from the seaside. West Bay is your closest beach, and it has plenty of places to eat, lots of fish and chip stalls and an old harbour full of boats. Drive west along the coast road and you'll find Golden Cap, the highest cliff on the Jurassic Coast, and Lyme Regis, the fossil capital of the UK and home to some wonderful restaurants.

Lewesdon Hill, Dorset's highest hill, is just 5 minutes away by car. Once an Iron Age Hill Fort, it is covered in ancient beech and oak trees and filled with bluebells every spring. We highly recommend a visit and the views at the top will not disappoint.

You have some of the best country walks straight from The Cottage. The Brit Valley Way will take you all the way to West Bay and the footpaths around Netherbury offer some gentle and some more challenging walks.

For all your foodie needs look no further than Washingpool Farm Shop (which you may recognise from Broadchurch) where you will find the very best local produce to cook up a taste of country life. Bridport and Beaminster both have great restaurants and pubs and Bridport also has an antiques and food market every Wednesday and Saturday. There are many supermarkets too, takeaways and quiet corners to fill your spirits.

We are very lucky to be a short walk from the Award Winning Furleigh Wine Estate. Pre-book for a tour of their vineyards and a tasting session of their fabulous British white wines.
