'Unbelievably beautiful. Magic. Not a waypoint, a destination' (Paul, September 2023). The Cowshed, a quaint, charming self-contained annex cottage with stunning views. French doors open out onto the lawn and patio. Ideal for walkers wishing to visit the Carneddau, and just off the Pilgrim's Way, but also a short drive from Conwy, Llandudno, and attractions such as Zip World and Bodnant Gardens. We allow pets. Ideal for couples (one bedroom) but there is a sofa bed for a child or extra guest.
The space
The Cowshed is back, after a break for renovations. It's now a bit cosier for the winter stays. 'The cottage is welcoming, quaint and lovely with everything you will need' (Richard, October 2023). The Cowshed is a self-contained annex with beautiful views of the Conwy Valley. It was a cowshed many years ago, then it was converted to a granny flat, and has recently undergone a series of renovations as an Airbnb, whilst retaining its rustic charm. (As annex, it is on the side of our home, so please note that we will be around. It is self contained, but you will see us in the garden, and may occasionally hear us).
It is in a very peaceful spot, with a lot of wildlife around. You may be fortunate enough to see a red kite. It is likely that you will see the wild welsh mountain ponies on the Carneddau. Also expect to see sheep and cows, and our cockerels, and horses at some times of year.
There is one bedroom, with a double bed (with a sprung base, so it may not be to the taste of those who like a very firm bed). Open plan kitchen/living/dining room. The kitchen is well equipped with all the basic appliances and utensils (no washing machine). Please note that there is not a great deal of storage space.
Sofa bed, to provide an additional sleeping space.
Equipment for a baby (e.g. travel cot, high chair) can be provided on request.
Central heating (connected to the main house). This is on during the colder months. Our default is to have it set warmer in the evenings, since our guests are usually out and about during the day, but if you're planning to stay in all the time, it can be adjusted. There is also an electric heater, for immediate heat.
The bathroom has a shower. Please note that we do not have the greatest water pressure.
We have a large garden, which you are welcome to enjoy. There is a patio with seating just outside the French doors. (Please note that we will also be in the garden at times, but we do not use the patio).
Wifi.
There is a TV screen with DVD player (not connected to live television - just for DVDs).
We allow pets. Obviously we clean thoroughly between guests, but this property would not be suitable for those with severe pet allergies.
We are in the countryside, so the odd insect may get in when the windows are open.
Guest access
You will have exclusive use of the 'Cowshed' annex cottage, which is on the side of our house. You will also have shared use of the garden. It is big enough that you will have space to yourself, but please be aware that we will be around, feeding the animals etc. and we have a friendly 5 year old son. You may also see some of our friends and neighbours. Guests tend to mainly use the patio.
Other things to note
Please note that the property is accessed via a long driveway, part of which is tarmac but the lower section is not. Most vehicles with reasonable ground clearance should have no difficulty using it, but we do not recommend booking if you have a sports car or other vehicle with very limited ground clearance. Please drive very slowly on the lower section.
Very occasional delays due to farmers moving sheep!
Please note that dogs must be kept on a lead at all times when outdoors.
Please note that this is an annex on the side of our home. Whist it is self-contained with its own entrance, we will be around.
