Glas Eilean View is a delightful lochside 2-bedroom house in the picturesque village of Dornie. With stunning views over Loch Long toward the majestic Skye Cuillins and shoreside wildlife including oystercatchers, otters, and herons. The house is just a 5-minute stroll away from the world-famous Eilean Donan Castle, the most photographed castle in Scotland, if not the world! With the Skye Bridge nearby, it serves as the perfect base for exploring the breathtaking Isle of Skye & Lochalsh.

The space
Nestled in a breathtaking location overlooking the loch and the majestic Cuillin mountains on the Isle of Skye, our property is just a short walk from the iconic Eilean Donan Castle. We take pride in maintaining the house to a high standard, ensuring it offers a comfortable, warm, and welcoming environment for our guests. Enjoy premium fixtures and fittings throughout, including hotel-quality bedding and luxurious feather pillows (anti-allergy options available) in both our King and Twin bedrooms. (Please note, we do not provide a travel cot, stair gate, or fire guard.)

The lounge features an Aga wood-burning stove and a stunning view of the loch, along with a 40-inch Smart TV, super-fast Wi-Fi, and cosy electric reclining sofas—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration.

In the inviting dining room, you’ll find an oak dining table and chairs, a Bluetooth speaker, and a selection of books, board games and DVDs for your entertainment.

Our modern, spacious kitchen is fully equipped to meet all your cooking needs, boasting ample worktop space, a built-in electric oven and hob, a Nespresso coffee machine, a full-size dishwasher, an under-counter fridge, a washing machine, and a freezer located in the utility area.

The bathroom includes a bath with an overhead electric shower and a small selection of toiletries for your convenience.

The property includes gated private parking and secure shed storage for up to four bicycles at the back, along with an outdoor drying line.
The heated drying room in the utility area is perfect for drying your outdoor gear after a day of cycling or hiking the numerous trails and Munros in the vicinity.

With warm central heating throughout and some smokeless fuel supplied for the Aga stove, the house is wonderfully cosy.

The enclosed garden area features comfortable outdoor seating with views of the castle and loch, as well as a picnic table at the front.

It truly is a home away from home in one of the prettiest villages in the area away from the hustle and bustle of Skye just a 10 minute drive away.

Welcome to Dornie, a charming former fishing village with a population of around 360 residents. Nestled near Scotland’s iconic Eilean Donan Castle, Dornie is perfectly positioned at the confluence of Loch Duich, Loch Alsh, and Loch Long. The A87, the main route to the Isle of Skye, is conveniently located just outside the village, making it easy to explore the breathtaking landscapes of Skye, Plockton, Applecross, and Glenelg.

Nature lovers will appreciate the abundance of outdoor activities right at your doorstep. Discover scenic trails for all levels, including the stunning Five Sisters of Kintail, the South Shiel Ridge, and the breathtaking Falls of Glomach.

Please note that our house is strictly non-smoking and we do not accommodate pets. Additionally, due to insurance regulations, we cannot permit external charging for motorhomes or electric vehicles.

Neighbourhood highlights

The Dornie hotel and the Clachan bar are less than a 5 minute walk away.
Both offer bar meals and the hotel also has a seafood restaurant. We love the Clachan and highly recommend it to our guests.
(Both places are very popular so best to book)
The closest shops are a Spar in Balmacara and Inverinate Petrol station. Both are really well stocked with a selection of quality butcher meat and Asher’s bakery goods.
The Old Schoolhouse in Dornie is a 5 minute walk away and had a gift/coffee shop.
Eilean Donan castle have a good quality takeaway called ‘Heilan Scran’ with a varied menu.
Across the Dornie bridge in Ardelve, Manuelas Wee Bakery sells delicious handmade bread, cakes, handmade pizzas at Pizza Jo’s, and their own range of award winning Gin. It’s Just a 10 minute walk if you are tasting the gin! It’s worth a visit just to see the fairytale houses.

We live just a 5 minute drive from the house so can be on hand if you need anything.
