***Hi all, we are moving abroad to Berlin for three months over the summer and looking to sublet our flat to a single person or couple only. Message me for further information! ***
This light and comfortable flat is part of a smart 1900's mansion block in the heart of Hackney. It has two bedrooms, original wood floors throughout, period fireplaces, and a lovely sunny central courtyard complete with picnic table. The flat is on a quiet backstreet, with the high street just around the corner, and the Overground station just two minutes walk away taking you to Highbury & Islington, Hampstead Heath, or Stratford, in minutes.
There is more to explore in London Fields, Broadway Market, and Dalston which are all a stone's throw away.
The living room comes with a dining table for 4-6 guests, a 32" flat screen tv, audio system, and large corner sofa which converts into a kingsize sofa-bed. The flat has wi-fi and freeview.
The kitchen has a built in fridge/freezer, gas hobs, oven, and all the mod-cons (toaster, kettle, microwave, blender, etc).
A back door in the kitchen takes you out into the central courtyard, where you can enjoy the sunshine and have lunch on the picnic table or a glass of wine on the back steps.
The bathroom is clean and well maintained and has a shower and bath tub, toilet, and sink.
There are two bedrooms. The first is a large double, with a small sofa and plenty of storage space in a wardrobe and chest of drawers. The second bedroom also has a double bed, and a wardrobe as well as a built in cupboard with shelves.
Just down the road on Wilton Way are also a number of lovely cafes, bakeries, and pubs. There is parking space available just outside the door to the flat, and I can supply visitor vouchers for you at cost price (it'll cost about £15 for a whole week).
I have lived in this building for over five years now and really love it. There is a lovely community on the ground floor, as we all share the back courtyard that our back doors open onto. There are always lots of friendly cats hanging out, and if you need advice on the local area, everyone is really friendly on the ground floor and will gladly offer you advice.
Interaction with guests
I will be away during your stay. I am good friends with my neighbours and they are around to give keys and advice!
Other things to note
I have a cat, who will stay with my neighbours whilst you stay in the flat. But she spends time in the central courtyard and will probably try to come and say hi to you/come into the flat since it's her usual home. If you have a cat allergy or don't like pets, this might not be the place for you!
Please just treat the space like it was your own, and enjoy your stay!
When you arrive, I will give you a set of keys for the front and back door
and show you the flat. Sometimes I am not around and I get my neighbours to
show people around - they are good friends of mine and are very friendly
too! But either way I will arrange this with you in advance and make sure
you know the deal. Usually I seem to be out when people are leaving, and in
this case I ask that you leave the keys in the post box just outside the
Please leave the flat in the same condition you found it. You will need to strip the sheets of the beds, and make sure you have washed everything up and put things away, and also taken out the trash to the bins at the end of the courtyard that would be great. Easy!
The final thing to mention is that I have a cat called Meisje who is indoor/outdoor. During your stay she will be looked after by my neighbours, but she is very friendly so you'll probably see her, and she may even sneak in to the flat if you leave the back door ajar! I just register this in case anyone has cat allergies, as this is something to be aware of.

Hey, I'm an American living in London, and my family is from the Netherlands. I've been in the UK for about eight years and been in Hackney for five of them. I really love the area I live in and have enjoyed watching it grow and change over the time I've been here. I work as a social researcher, supporting the design and delivery of better public services. I enjoy cooking and good food, squash, yoga, hanging out with friends, and having a drink and a laugh at the pub. I have travelled quite a bit myself and genuinely look forward to meeting people that I host as well as sharing with people all the best places and sites in London that I've experienced over the years.
