Description

The space

"La chingada was born along with independent Mexico." We know about this powerful origin through the pen of Enrique Serna, author of La Sangre Erguida (The Upright Blood). He writes that around 1840 Andrés Quintana Roo and other intellectuals who attended the gatherings held in the Andrade bookstore, demonstrated a keen interest in the origin of the verb chingar, daily used in all pulquerías of the time. Thus, the "widely use of the word coincided with the rise of national consciousness."
Will we ever know the relation between chingada and consciousness? What a question. For now, we have no doubts about their undeniable national dimension. The strongest evidence of this is its widespread use: it does not respect territorial limits or political divisions, nor social inequalities, cultural fractures or generational boundaries. No ifs about it. In its assorted applications, referrals and meanings, the chingada is what you might call a "national heritage".
From all its uses, perhaps the most common one is that in which someone curses you to go to a distant and undefined place: "Vete a la chingada". We have heard and said it countless times. Well, since the chingada is a place that at some point, quietly or loudly, we have sent someone or have ever been to, then it’s got to be a wonderful destination.
So, if you are sent to somewhere near that, come to "La Chingada" where you will have a blast. It cannot be otherwise.
As you enter, you will find a gorgeous and lush tropical garden. You will walk between zapotes, chechens, chacas, arecas and bougainvillea until reaching a beautiful and spacious palapa: there you will find the dining and lounge area, where a massive roof woven with ancient Mayan wisdom is combined with polished concrete floor and countertops of industrial aesthetic. To the right, if you follow the cool hallway, you will find two bedrooms, each with ensuite facilities and garden view. One of them also offers access to a stoned courtyard, led by a beautiful zapote shading a comfortable wooden bench, which will tempt you (almost) irresistibly, to read a Paz' essay, a Borges' tale or Rulfo’s novel. Or, simply, to sit and enjoy nature.
If you follow the stairs you'll find a large bedroom, with ensuite facilities and a lovely terrace covered by a pergola made with local wood. Above the bed, at the head, a mischievous imp and an angelita in love will look after your dreams. And if you want to spend a sleepless night, eternal Maria Felix with her seductive look will make you company.
Everything, absolutely everything in “La Chingada” is intended for you to enjoy magical, unforgettable days.
So, now you know. Next time you are sent to la chingada, don’t feel offended. Accept the invitation and come here, we will take you in with our arms wide open.

My friends and I came to Tulum for a birthday trip and Florencia's place was perfect. So beautiful and in the perfect location to bike to the beach and walk to explore the town. A lovely setup for a group of friends, and truly she was so responsive and helpful, making sure everything was taken care of. We loved it so much.

Florencia is a wonderful host and her beautiful, clean, and airy casa was a pleasure to spend time in. It was great to have it be so close to all the downtown amenities in Tulum - many of the hotels are too far away for easy access to all the great taco stands and restaurants.

Flor has a very cute place that's huge and well situated for Tulum. It's a quick drive to the beach, lots of good food options nearby, grocery store basically across the street and very easy to park. It's a bit non-descript on the outside and the inside is quite cute with a ton of space. 3 bedrooms that could probably easily sleep 8 (we had 6, 4 adults and 2 kids) and still have room for a bit of privacy. We loved it! The common rooms and one bedroom are not fully sealed / no AC and you have to definitely be conscious of food scraps being left out as it can attract ants.

The house is exactly as featured. It is centrally located between town and the best beach clubs in Tulum. It was the exact experience we were looking for. Florencia is the absolute best, warmest host. Always responds to text or email in minutes. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this home to anyone!

My family of four stayed a week at Florencia's. She was super responsive before arrival and met us when we came in quite late. It was very clean and well equipped. The beds were comfortable and each room has a private bath. The large living room and kitchen area is cool in the day and the fans over the beds were cooling at night, there is AC but we didn't need it. The dead end street is quiet though you hears sounds of the town - music, vehicles, in the distance. The upstairs deck is relaxing among the trees. The house is at the edge of town, an easy walk to many stores and restaurants. The nicer beaches are a couple of miles away, and the bikes are a bit funky for long rides but good for going around town. We had a rental car anyway from the Mex Car rental place around the corner at very reasonable rate (next to Avis and much cheaper.) There were wonderful leaf cutter ants that cut skins off fruit if you leave it on the counter - they don't bother you at all and we found them entertaining. If you don't want them just don't leave food out, they go away.
