Comfortable room for 1 or 2 guests in a former Victorian manse (1899) - private balcony, views over the countryside of South Ayrshire! Room renovated early 2022. House key provided. Convenient position for weddings at Dalduff Farm & Culzean Castle. Drivers & caddies for golf tours: only 15 minutes (less than 9 miles) from Turnberry Golf Course - escape the feel of being "on duty". Golfers, cyclists & walkers welcome: dry out your gear in the house, store your bike in the garage.

The space
Have you ever stayed in a former manse? My house was built in 1899 and still has a great stained glass window in the hallway. Your room is spacious with a double bed (160x200cm) and a double-height-mattress. The room was renovated early 2022. It has central heating, an additional electric fireplace, direct access to your private south-facing balcony and dual aspect windows. There is a small writing desk and a large comfortable sofa, if you prefer to spend time in your room. It has a wardrobe and a chest of drawers. I provide towels and linen and - in case you forgot to pack something - toiletries and hairdryer on request. Iron and ironing board are available as well as washing machine and dryer (all for shared use). The bathroom is just round the corner from your room and is shared with me: it has a big bathtub as well as an electric shower.

TV is available downstairs in the lounge. WIFI is available for free throughout the house.

A word about how weather might affect your stay: the guestroom is on the upper floor of the house and faces southwest. When it gets a bit more windy outside (particularly outside the summer season and with gusts over 30 mph), you are likely to hear the wind 'howl' around the house. Some guests quite enjoy this, but if you are concerned, please pack earplugs.

I'll be around in the house most of the time and you are welcome to come for a chat.

Parking is available on the drive (not suitable for caravans). I strongly recommend that you bring a car or have a careful look at public transport websites to make sure our location works for your travel plans. I might be able to provide some help with transport (if you're going to a wedding, for example), however can I ask you to discuss when you book?

Where you’ll be

Maybole, Scotland, United Kingdom

Great views from the house. There are several pubs, cafes and takeaway options in town as well as a CoOp (open 7 days) and plenty more good food and drinking places within short driving distance. If you like Robert Burns, South Ayrshire is the place to go. While you're staying here, make sure to visit Culzean Castle which is only a few minutes drive down the road - it is a top-rated National Trust place in Scotland (check NTS website for opening hours). Or how about a walk on the beach - it's only 5-8 minutes drive away. Sea too cold to swim? No problem, try the public pool in Maybole, it's in walking distance. There are plenty of golf courses in the area, including the famous courses at Turnberry and Troon.

I like Scottish Country Dancing, good single malts, travelling and interesting food.
