Pula, Sardegna, Italy

Neighbourhood highlights

The town of Pula is, together with the town of Chia, the main tourist center of the southwest coast. It is just over 2 km from the sea and about 30 km from Cagliari (port and airport); it has about 7000 residents. Pula was founded as an agricultural centre (famous for its tomatoes) and is known for guarding the ruins of the ancient city of Nora (first nuragica, then Phoenician and finally Roman).
Pula's most renowned resort is Forte Village Resort (the world's best resort for several years http://www.worldtravelawards.com/award-worlds-leading-resort-2010). About 10 km from the sea, the settlement of Is Molas is located around the golf club of the same name (the largest in Sardinia with 27 holes ? sea view?).
Residential settlements are located in the immediate vicinity of the country and especially along the 12 km of coastline.
The sandy beaches: Nora is the beach of the village; then moving west, you find Foxi ?and Sali and then the 5 km of beach - interrupted only by the rocks of Cala Verde - which go from the town of Is Morus to Pinus Village passing through the towns of Cala Verde, Stella Marina, La Pineta, Perla Marina, Riva dei Pini, Cala Marina. The whole coast is covered by a beautiful pine forest that protects the residences from the summer sun.
Small but well-kept, Pula's old town is a great place to spend summer evenings outdoors, with a pedestrian area, shops open until midnight and the archaeological museum with interesting finds from the Punic city of Nora. Every summer the municipality organizes a showcase in the square.
Tourist services: beach bar, sun loungers and parasols rental in Nora and in stretches of the beach of La Pineta in Cala Marina. Tourist port in Cala Verde (boat rental).
Useful services: various markets, butcher and fishmonger, fruits and vegetables, cylinder resale, church, post office, petrol station, bank, outpatient clinic, pharmacy.

Eating: Pula is famous for its excellent and sizeable pizzas (such as the Eleonora and Sa Macinera pizzerias). In the center you will find several restaurants, (note Su Furriadroxiu, and Da Giancarlo). Along the coast we point out the Da Urru restaurant. In the central square of the village we point out the ice cream shop Su Nuraghe.
