The space

The house is old but comfortable and the patio is great to socialise on. The garden has a swing and sandpit and some toys for the kids. 15 minutes walk to the sea but also not too far from a lake with warmer water and a great beach for smaller kids. Plenty of forest roads for walks and cycles. Accessible by public transport. Plenty do do in the area. Viking village, ferry to Åland, Grisslehamn, Älmsta, Norrtälje. Near enough to go to daytrips to Stockholm. Takes about 1,5 by car or 2 hours by public transport.

Guest access

You have access to the full house and surrounding garden with plenty of parking space. We have a small rowing boat and bicycles of different sizes and shapes that you are welcome to borrow.

Interaction with guests

We will normally welcome our guests and are generally available nearby. We leave guests to themselves but we are always contactable if you need any help or have any questions.

The neighbourhood

Very beautiful, natural surroundings. Lots of forest and also the water. Very friendly neighbourhood with an active community. For example great midsummer festivities arranged every year.

We had a wonderful week in 'Gamla Huset'. Maria and Sean made us feel very welcome and their holiday home provided us with all that we needed for a very comfortable stay in beautiful surroundings. We are very much looking forward to visiting again in 2017.

Spacious house with 3 bedrooms that can sleep up to 7 people. Maria very kindle made bikes and a rowing boat available which made discovering the nearby area a real treat. It was lovely to come home and light a fire when we got really wet one afternoon. Plan your trip ahead a bit to look up supermarkets, restaurants and activities in the vicinity as the area is quite quiet on that front. But lovely to be able to enjoy nature and disconnect from phone/internet ( yes connection is bad but that's really no big deal). Thank you!

Traditional Swedish summer house in a very nice area with great communal areas both indoors and outdoors. Very well equipped with all that you would need even for a longer stay. The only improvement would have to be the wifi connection. The area has very weak 3G coverage for some providers and since the wifi didn't work we were without phones while inside the house. But that was a minor inconvenience, the host was very responsive and our stay was very nice and relaxing.

Response from Maria:
Sorry to hear about your problems with our wifi. We do have a connection although it is not amazing. On this occasion our wifi amplifier had been accidentally unplugged which meant no signal at all.

Amazing place in a very quiet area in the nature. We had a wonderful time in that typical house. We enjoyed the garden and the BBQ even if it was only end of March. We visited Stockholm and Uppsala and made a lot of beautiful walks in the area. We observed a lot of wildlife. One day we even had deer in the garden. Maria was very nice and when we arrived, she even made fire in the chimney. It was an amazing experience.

I stayed at Maria's house for just one night with some friends. We enjoyed it very much! The house was very clean, spacious and comfortable. We made a nice walk right from the house, the next day we toured a little with the car and walked in the area. We made dinner and sat by the fireplace, everybody slept very well, the beds were comfortable. Communication with Maria was easy. Highly recommended!

We really enjoyed our stay at Maria's place. Maria is very welcoming and helpful. She was also very helpful with her directions on how to reach her place. The house is as from the fairy tale. It is big, very clean, comfortable and very nice decorated. You can find in there everything you need. We really loved our evenings with fireplace in the living room. :-) The house is situated in beautiful green near the sea, you can do beautiful walking in the neighborhood. There is very good connection by car to Stockholm also. We highly recommended!

We spent a very nice week-end in Maria's house. The garden is nice, fully equipped with toys and sheeps are staying close by. The house in itself is quite big and comfortable, we enjoyed the fireplace. Nyby is a small and quiet hamlet, in the woods. It is possible to hike directly from the house. Maria and Sean were very nice and available to help us.
