All about Letizia’s place

The house is in a prestigious Palazzo in the heart of the old city, a few steps from the Duomo, the Uffizi Gallery and major museums.
It is on the second floor, accessed by an elevator, and is full of light, quiet and unique because … yes, that view of the Duomo on the photos is not a large TV screen on the wall. It really is the stunning view from the dining room table!
The Cathedral at home.
The apartment is well equipped and ideal for two, though it can accommodate up to four.

The space
The house has a stove, microwave oven, refrigerator/freezer, dish washer, washing machine, air conditioning, wi-fi and satellite TV to guarantee a comfortable stay. The furnishings include several period pieces, passed down in the family, which have been arranged within a comfortable modern setting.

The large window that looks out onto the Duomo, the Cathedral of Santa Maria dei Fiori, is the centerpiece of the apartment, and guests can take in the view while dining, working, reading in an armchair or simply sitting and enjoying a glass of local wine. The cupola's colors are everchanging, as early morning gives way to noon then sunset and finally the magic of stars in the night.

The living room, with its wonderful coffined ceiling, has a small terrace, and one of two sofas in the room can be transformed into a queen-sized bed, providing the additional two sleeping accommodations noted above.

The bedroom is quiet and has lots of light. Double bed or two single beds.

The kitchen is a separate room and has a window. The bathroom has a shower.

The apartment is the residence of a Tuscan family that has chosen to live in a place of incomparable beauty as well as fabulous quality of life. It is at the center of the city's unparalleled artistic patrimony. For certain portions of the year the apartment is available for a select clientele from all over the world.

Where you’ll be

Florence, Tuscany, Italy

The apartment is in the old part of the city center, as the list of sights above suggests, and most of these can be reached with just a short walk. The same can be said for the principal shops in the city center; most of the luxury shops can be found on via Tornabuoni, via della Vigna, via Strozzi, via Roma and the surrounding streets. The Pergola and Verdi theaters, both a very short walk from the apartment, offer quite interesting plays, music and other entertainment. The streets in the neighborhood are full of small restaurants, trattorie and wine bars. I might mention particularly "Vini e antichi sapori" which is on via Magazzini, right off the piazza Signoria. As for food shopping, you will have no problems as there are both small stores and larger supermarkets. Pegna, near the Duomo, has been providing gourmet delicacies to those who appreciate good food for over 100 years. Furthermore, the covered market of Sant'Ambrogio is worth a visit as it offers the best of Tuscan produce, from meats to fish to fresh vegetables and fruit, as well as wine, oil and typical Florentine sweets. And right on the market square you can also find the well know Tuscan restaurant, Cibreo, and its sister institution Teatro del Sale. Nearby you can also finc the Michelin starred restaurant Enoteca Pinchiorri on via Ghibellina.

I am a journalist and was born in Tuscany, where I have chosen to remain. It is my homeland and I never tire of seeing it in new and different ways. My family passed on to me an appreciation of beautiful things, the value of tradition and the secrets of our cuisine. My professional experience, traveling throughout Italy, has made me want to share all of this with a close network of friends and a growing number of others who want to experience and understand my homeland better.
