The space

This single room belongs to a genuine backpackers hostel in the trendy district of Dresden. Due to the individual furniture, it is an authentic mirror of the district Neustadt. A quarter where artists and “characters” are living.

After shopping at the supermarket of your trust, you can cook “the meal of your life” in our fully-equipped kitchen. In addition, there is wireless in the whole house, so you can find a good recipe ;)

Now you are fit, you can start to go in the “Neustadt” - the colorful multicultural district. This is where art and craft meets punk and hippie culture. Explore the small backyards with their studios and celebrate all night long in the district with Germany's highest density of bars and pubs.

But not only new things can be found in the “Neustadt”. There are also traditional things to see. Like the “Pfund's Dairy” on Bautznerstraße, which is awarded as the most beautiful dairy shop in the world. It still has his hand-painted flagging from Villeroy and Boch.

It is not even 100 meters to the Artpassage. Their imaginatively decorated courtyards invite you to drink coffee and take pics. Furthermore, along the Königsbrückerstraße you can relive the childhood of Erich Kastner. The House of his birth vis-a-vis the “Schauburg” to the villa of his uncle, which is now the Museum Erich Kaestner.

The historic city center is not far away. After a nice walk of 20 to 30 minutes (about 15 minutes by tram), you are in historic baroque part of Dresden. Explore the Royal Palace, the Zwinger, the Brühl Terrace, the Semper Opera and of course the world famous Church for our Lady in Dresden.

Anyone who interested in art, there are various exhibitions inside this buildings. Choices range in the painting of the old masters to the contemporary art. There is also a sculpture section, the armory, the Turkish Chamber, the porcelain collection or the new and the historic Green Vault.

After a busy day, you can go back "home" to the hostel. In addition to the communal kitchen, which you already know, there's a cozy "living room" where you usually can meet a lot of travvellors from all over the world.

The single room is a private room with a creative individual design. The bathroom is shared and located in the hallway.

Small but clean room with a nice bed. Clean bathroom. The people are very nice and helpful and speak good English. Would recommend to anyone looking for a cheap and clean place to stay.

When I tried to book this room, my booking got expired, but the very next day, the host contacted me, so that it eventually worked out well. The host is not exactly a private person, instead it is a hostel, which wasn’t renting out a room inside the hostel, but this room was in an apartment a couple of houses away from the actual hostel. This is a small apartment with kitchen, bathroom and two rooms – and I booked one of the rooms. The hostel staff was very nice and perfectly able to explain the way from the main station to the hostel to me and since there is always someone at the reception, the check in times are flexible. The place is located in the ‘pub and alternative’ student quarter, ca. 20 minutes of walk or 5 minutes by tram away from the historic downtown area. Since my room wasn’t cleaned when I reached at 1pm, I got the other room, which didn’t make a difference to me. The first night I was alone in the apartment and enjoyed the rare luxury to have my own kitchen and bathroom. There is a TV in the kitchen, Wi-Fi / WLAN connection data is hanging inside on the entrance door and there is free tea/coffee. For breakfast I could either go to the hostel to buy breakfast there or go to the next supermarket (there are two nearby) and just get the necessary stuff. On the second night, the other room was occupied as well, but this was no problem either. It was a nice stay in Dresden and I def. got the value for what I paid …
