Interaction with guests

My husband Nino and I live in this beautiful barn near Florence, in the Chianti hills.. When the children have left home, we renovated part of the building and we have obtained two small indipendent apartments where we welcome friends and relatives guests. The place is beautiful and our guests are always happy to stay there.
Guests are friends, for us. We want to share with them the beauty of this place and this region. We are always available to them (we live in the same building ..) for signs of all kinds, tourist, practices, food and wine, etc.,We are pleased that the many wonders that surround us are known and admired by our guests!. We look forward to see you too!

The neighbourhood

Our 2 apartments are located just 15 km from Florence and 2 km from San Casciano in Val di Pesa.
It is possible to arrive to S.C. in Val di Pesa in just 20 minutes walking in middle of the nature through olive groves and vineyards.

Our house is placed on a hill. It is an old restored typical tuscan barn from 1400., surrounded by a beautiful landscape.
We have a spectacular view from our common guests terrace looking on a Chianti region with its green hills and valleys.

There are just few private houses in our street and our first neighbors are wine, olive oil and honey producers (Villa Poggio Torselli).
Villa P. Torselli is just 200 m distanced from our house and it is one of the largest, the most prestigious and elegant villas found in the hills of S.C. in Val di Pesa, once known as the 'Queen of the Villas', it has been owned by some of the most illustrious Tuscan families, from Machiavelli to Antinori.

Nowadays this Villa is a national museum. It is possible to visit and buy farm products (wine, olive oil and honey).
A bus station to Florence or to San Casciano in Val di Pesa is located down the hill, just 200 m from our accommodation.
The bus (Sita company) has it's first and the last stop in Santa Maria Novella (where the main train station is).
Therefor it is not necessary to arrive to our accommodation with a private car, because the bus, under our house, will take you directly to the center of Florence in 30 minutes.
Please be aware that the last bus departure from Florence to San Casciano in Val di Pesa is at 8.30 pm.
However, we suggest you to have a car, in order to enjoy visiting the surroundings . In case you arrive with a car, a parking spot in our private parking (behind the gate) will be reserved for you.

The kitchen is fully equipped.

You will find a common guests washing machine on the terrace.
Wi-fi is free of charge and city taxes are included.

The first grocery shop, restaurant, coffee bar and pharmacy is 2 km away.
The first ambulance, gas station and cash machine are 3 km away.
The nearest hospital is 12 km away.

It is possible to organize few private lessons of Tuscan kitchen if you are interested.
In the apartment, to welcome you, you will find many useful small surprises, not to be forced to rush to the supermarket just arrived
And then there's Florence, a few steps away, with its artistic and cultural treasures. And Siena, Pisa and Lucca, a few tens of kilometers further. And, also not far away, the sea, Livorno, Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi. A small, large, diverse universe, to discover and explore. For a dream vacation.

Getting around

Buses. leading to Florence, have a stop 150 meters from the barn. But they are not very frequent. So, it is better, for a pleasant stay, make use of one's own car, also rented.

Staying at Maria & Nino's loft was a dream! We were welcomed with a beautiful homemade cake from Maria and a bottle of wine & prosecco. Everything was perfect! We explored all the different towns of Tuscany, however found ourselves always wanting to come back to the loft to enjoy the view & a bottle of wine. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway... then this little piece of heaven is the right fit!

Maria and her husband are very friendly and helpful. We can highly recommend this apartment if you are looking for wonderful place to relax from you daily routine, but also if you are looking to discover the historic cities around. We were welcomed with open arms. Nino and Maria made us feel very comfortable and had a few nice surprises waiting on us! (Maria, I would love to have your recipe!). They gave us the best recommendations on restaurants, where to park in Florence, and every detail we needed to make our holiday memorable. We would love to come back!

We loved our little place in Tuscany. The apartment is small, but is very well and thoughtfully equipped by the hosts. The property is lovely, with a beautiful valley view of olive groves, vineyards, hills and forests. It is very quiet at night and all hours. The apartment is close to town and the hosts have a clever plan allowing you to visit Florence by parking free in a nearby town and taking a quick, inexpensive bus into the city. We rented a car for the week we were there and had a great time exploring nearby towns and medieval cities.

Maria and Nino went out of their way to make us feel welcome with a bottle of wine and something baked. The small but cozy loft we had was comfortable and thoughtfully stocked with kitchen items. The elevated patio was a great place to sit and have coffee and plan the day or come home after picking up dinner at the local market. The views from their property are classic Tuscany. The hills covered with both grape vines and olive trees were being harvested during our stay.

I do not have enough words of praise for Maria Fernandez and Nino. From the moment of my arrival until the morning of my departure, I felt like a member of the family. My flight was delayed and I arrived very late the first day. Being alone in a foreign country and not having had a chance to explore markets early in the day, I was thrilled to have a homemade coffee cake, homemade preserves, coffee, wine, fruit and some beverages already in the apartment. This villa should not be overlooked when researching a place to call home while on holiday. The surrounding gardens and views are spectacular. Maria and Nino left detailed instructions for a new comer to the area complete with driving and walking instructions. They were available by email if they were not on the premises. My birthday fell during my visit and a sweet little note was tied to the bottle of asti sitting at my doorstep. The apartment itself was just as represented in the photos and was appointed perfectly. There was also a washing machine right on the premises. I am already planning my return visit. Mille Grazie!

E abbiamo otto grandi amori: i nostri nipotini.
