The house was really comfortable and clean. The area was quite and peaceful. Everyone was friendly. Venao Cove is at the far right end of the beach. A nice walk up the beach and you will find a bar, other hostels, and surf. My friends and I loved our stay and would chose Venao Cove again.

Playa Venao is at a turning point. A lovely beach, great learn-to-surf spot, and pretty chill but in the focus of a development push that will soon produce changes. Venao Cover is at the serene far end of the beach and thereby much less affected. Loved our little Casita, very comfy, staff and guests all very friendly and chill. A great spot to relax. Bring lots of books and leave them when you are done. Staff will offer you a garbage bag to pick up junk on the beach which they will offer you a cold beer for should you fill it. In other places, I have filled pickup truck beds with plastic picked up on smaller beaches. Loved the idea of this, but in truth, I never saw enough junk on this beach to fill a bag. I cleaned up a few items, but had to buy my own beers. Loved the vibe here, staff and volunteers were completely charming. This is a special place in a special place... do yourself a favour and come soon.

This is a far-removed location without conveniences. There were some wonderful fellow-travelers we met there. Mostly younger people, some with kids - very adventurous! Most were there to surf, but there wasn't a wave to be seen during our trip in January.

Venao Cove is a great Hostal on Playa Venao. Its down at the very end of the cove and has great beach access. Its simple and clean with a great staff. Our original reservation was double booked and the staff upgraded us to the actual owners private house...! Panga restaurant is the newest addition to the property and is pretty amazing... its definitely fine dining but well worth it. My family and I will stay here again for sure.

Venao Cove was exactly what we were looking for. Close to the beach for surfing, a short walk to a waterfall, and a perfect location to explore the area. We had a car, but you could have a relaxing stay just hanging out at the beach by the hostel. Leaf gave us terrific recommendations on what to do in the area, as well as the staff. They are very gracious and will get you what you need to enjoy your stay. We surfed two other spots while we were there, each about an hour away. There is a fruit and a fish guy that come to the hostel during the week...fresh yellow fin tuna at a great price. The hostel is located at the extreme end of the bay in a very quiet and calm location, away from the 2-3 beach hotels and some newer construction toward the more central beach. Even with some of the newer developments, it is still a relaxing place to visit, and does not have buildings with more than 2 stories, like some of the new beach developments closer to Panama City. Venao Beach still is quite a beautiful and natural setting...though it appears development is coming...

We are Leaf and Irene, an australian-austrian couple. Our dream had been to create something that would enable us to surf every day and meet people from all over the world.

In the year of 2009 we came to Panama. With its quirky people, beautiful wildlife and beaches full of fish, turtles and waves we found this the perfect place to live and start making our dream come true.

Throughout the past couple of years we have been working on creating a laid-back atmosphere for people who seek to travel to a world away from the “beaten track”, looking to hang out with good people at a good place!
