Business
In 1981 I won the Northern Ireland Press Photographer of the year, at the age of 16. In 1991 I moved to Norway. During my career I have won a total of 58 major international awards for my Documentary work in both photo and film, including 4 times Press Photographer of the year in Norway and 3 times Press Photographer of the year in Ireland. In 2006 David Kinsella directed, filmed and edited his first film Love Letters from a children’s prison. The film was nominated by the American Film Institute for Best feature length film Documentary of the year.
I had lived in Norway for 30 years, my mother was then 88 and it was time to return to Belfast and have some quality time with her, at the same time I needed a new creative challenge, a step beyond cinema, make a movie that is real for my audience.
How can I turn a Northern Ireland theme, a movie, a book an event in time into a living interactive experience?.
The Titanic museum was the biggest tourist attraction in Northern Ireland, so I decided to create a “Holiday worlds”, mini Walt Disney style worlds, but with only Northern Ireland themes.
I found the properties in the Titanic region, and started the 2 1/2 year process of hand making and creating my first 3 "worlds" Rose, Becfola and Victoria.
As my core movie audience has always been women, I have created what I believe is what the market has never had, a world first, an opportunity for the Audience to come into my creative world and be part of the story, be it Titanic, or a Princess world or live as a Titanic worker in their original houses, all with audio sound design that floats around our dream worlds.
