My friends and I visited Aizu-Wakamatsu on 5th May. The weather was rather cold when we finally reached Aizu-Bange station in the evening, but the hosts were very warm and welcoming which really made it feel like coming home. Unfortunately, Yoshi himself was away on vacation but his parents took extremely good care of us, bringing us to a nearby restaurant for dinner, helping us to plan our train schedule, and making sure we were all as comfortable as possible. They even went through the trouble of waking me up at 430am to watch the sunrise, and also made us a simple but incredibly delicious breakfast with the rice from their own fields. Yoshi's parents also shared some insights about their lifestyle as farmers, the agricultural industry in Japan, and much of their Japanese culture and religious beliefs. They are very friendly and open to sharing and two-way interaction. Yoshi's mother, Tazuko, is able to speak in English so don't worry about communication! That being said, it really is a very rural area, so please don't expect much from the neighbourhood. But I cannot emphasize enough how kind and accomodating our hosts were, which really made the experience so much better. Words cannot express my gratitude to Yoshi and his parents, and I would very highly recommend this place to anyone interested.

I came with a car to this location, but even if I didn't I still feel this would have been a successful stay. Not only did Yoshi's parents find us at a nearby konbini to take us to the house, they also made us dinner, breakfast, and tried fixing my car! (My car's brake lights wouldn't turn off and they drove us around the night we arrived trying to find someone who could fix it. They even planned to take us to a car dealership the next morning to help get it fixed, but luckily I solved it before then). They were incredibly friendly and helpful with great English, and the food was my boyfriend's favorite meal during the trip. Private room, clean shared bathroom. I would highly recommend! These hosts went above and beyond!

Good experience in traditional Japanese homestay compare with hotel!! Yoshi's Mother was kind enough to pick me up from the train station and cook me some nice dinner. :)

What a hospitality! Yoshi himself was unfortunately on business trip but his parents took care of me like their own son. His mother cooked me dinner and breakfast and even got up from bed at 5 am to drive me to several places where I needed to take some photos. Communication was good with Yoshi via message, and even though I missed the train when I was about to check in he directed me to a bus and his mother waited on the station to pick me up. I was here in winter and it can get really cold - but beautiful with all the snow. I bet it is just as gorgeous in the summer, when the family farm is in full bloom. Rusty, charming big farm house and a really local experience to recommend for everyone!
