Great location

Poplar Cove Retreat is a nature lover's paradise! Whether your interest is flowers, trees, birds, or rocks, you'll find it all in abundance. My house is located on our 80+ acre family farm where black angus cattle also reside. You may also spot deer, turkeys, and other wildlife. I keep numerous bird feeders filled so you can enjoy watching the birds from several outdoor seating areas. I have left my field guides and binoculars for guests who might enjoy identifying birds and numerous topics.

The space
At the guest's request, I can also provide you with a spotting scope and tripod. The large detached deck is big enough for a family reunion, playing cornhole (game is provided) or a game of badminton. The large fire pit is another space to enjoy. You will have the entire house with a kitchen so well stocked that you can prepare a small meal or serve Thanksgiving dinner. Each sleeping area has a smart TV. A large selection of board games and cards is available. Poplar Cove Retreat is the perfect place for a peaceful, quiet weekend or as your home base for a week of exploring the Cumberland Plateau.

Where you’ll be

Jamestown, Tennessee, United States

Poplar Cove Retreat is located in a quiet farm community 4.5 miles from Jamestown, TN, the county seat of Fentress County.

There are many nearby outdoor opportunities: East Fork Stables (8.5 miles), Eastport Dock on Dale Hollow Lake (12.6 mi), the home, grist mill and park of Sgt. Alvin C. York (12.9 mi), the newly created Skinner Mountain Forest and Wildlife Management Area (13.9 mi), Pickett State Park and Pogue Creek Canyon State Natural Area (20 mi), the historic town of Rugby (21.3 mi), and Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area (26.5 mi).

Jamestown is a rural town with a few restaurants and a WalMart for grocery needs. If you arrive past 6pm most restaurants will be closed for the evening. The WalMart is open until 11pm. Fentress County is semi-dry, meaning no liquor is sold at all and beer and wine aren't sold on Sunday. Don't forget to stock up before you hit the county line.

I am a retired high school math teacher and taught for 31 years. I have one son, who is my pride and joy. Two years ago, I lost my wonderful husband to a sudden heart attack and my world has forever been changed. Gardening is my favorite hobby but I have several others such as woodcarving and crochet. My husband and I loved to travel but now I travel with my son, sister or best friend.
