The Old Flax Shop has recently been converted into accommodation. It once provided flax for the local rope making industry. The charming Grade II listed building has been sensitively brought up to date. Nestled next to a farmhouse, situated on the edge of Symondsbury with a stunning view of Colmers Hill, only a few minutes drive to the bustling market town of Bridport. We are situated on the A35, within easy reach of the local beaches and a 10 minute walk to the village pub.

The space
Our interesting and unique conversion is comfy, cosy and charming. Most of the original features have been lovingly restored and maintained in the building to retain its personality and effortless style and to reference its history. Where new architectural installations have been included, these have been considered with relaxed and beautiful aesthetics to further enhance the space. Both the bedrooms have king size beds that can be made into singles to help make the sleeping arrangements as flexible as possible. Whilst adorning the space with all the creature comforts of home, we have made it our mission to purchase responsibly, from buying local handmade mattresses and ceramics to organic natural undyed cotton towels and flax linen curtains. These bespoke and natural materials lend their own style to the building, are better for our health and the environment. Being considerate of our environmental footprint is something we are passionate about continually working with at The Old Flax Shop.

My husband Luke and I moved to Dorset to fill our lives with a bit more adventure. A huge fan of nature and being outdoors, soaking up the sun, having lazy lunches and good conversation. Adore visiting interesting new places, passionate about theatre, performance, dance, music...anything creative. Thrive on new and inspiring projects and meeting people.
