Rousdon, England, United Kingdom

The Rousdon Estate is a beautiful, quiet location high up on the cliffs of the Jurasssic Coast, halfway between Lyme Regis in West Dorset, and Seaton and Beer in East Devon, half a mile off the A3052 coast road.

There are dozens of different walks around the Estate, and you can also access the South West Coast Path, which will take you through the famous Undercliff.

You can also access our own Secret Beach - Charton Bay - a hidden gem just 40 minutes’ walk from Pebble Place. You are almost guaranteed to have the beach to yourself.

Lyme Regis is a beautiful and popular town, with its renowned Cobb Harbour, and both a sandy and a pebble beach, with the opportunity for water sports and fossil hunting. Lyme has many restaurants, galleries, its own brewery and craft shops set in the Artisan Quarter, a museum, gardens, and the Marine Theatre which puts on an eclectic mix of music, theatre, festivals and live streaming.

Further eastwards are the towns of Charmouth ( again, a major fossil hunting location) and Bridport, with its twice weekly market, theatre, numerous shops, and beach at West Bay, made famous as BBC’s Broadchurch. Climb Golden Cap at Seatown - the highest point on the South Coast.

Travelling west you will first come to the village of Axmouth with two pretty pubs, and the Axe Estuary and harbour. A short walk from there is the Victorian town of Seaton and its mile long beach and water sports.
The pretty villages of Beer and Branscombe are next along the Jurassic Coast, and the world famous Donkey Sanctuary and the Regency town of Sidmouth, renowned for its annual Folk Festival are a few miles further on.

Inland is the market town of Axminster, with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage Canteen in the town square and the main River Cottage farm with its courses and events is situated between Rousdon and Axminster.
