We were welcomed by the host, shown around the property, given a thorough explanation of how everything worked (particularly the powered entrance/exit gate. There was a basic supply of coffee, tea, sugar, biscuits etc, plus wine - which was a nice touch. The property had everything we needed, and was very comfortable, an excellent bathroom, access to a washing machine and all the necessary kitchen equipment. Detergents, cleaning pads, coffee machine filters, salt, corkscrew, nail brush - everything had been thought of and provided, so no looking around to buy those little things.
We loved being in the town and being able to take a short walk each morning to buy our baguette, or out in the evening with a choice of restaurants. Despite being in the town, it was surprisingly quiet, Villeneuve les Avignon is steeped in history, walking around the town reveals all kinds of historic and architectural discoveries.
We were initially a little concerned about parking, but in practice this was never a problem and could always find a space close to the property.
Thursday markets are a must and the Saturday 'antique' markets fascinating. The 'Vide Grenier' or attic sales took up most of the town and were a revelation - probably a must for any car-booters.
