The space
This home is newly furnished and offers plenty of amenities. The interior was designed by SCAD alumni, and the home features original art from the SCAD grads. It includes 2 bedrooms, a living room, 1 full bathroom, and 1 Roku Smart TV. The full kitchen is perfect for preparing light meals and includes a stove, oven, a fridge/freezer, microwave, and Keurig. It's stocked with cooking essentials like pots, pans, dishes, glasses, and mugs.

The back patio is gorgeous, and a great place to enjoy your morning coffee!

This listing is a great fit for young couples or travelers who have previous experience booking private bedrooms within a shared space. It’s likely that on busy weekends or popular travel times that you’ll be sharing the home with other Airbnb guests and may interact with them in passing. Each bedroom is listed as its own Airbnb for travelers to book.

This is a shared space, and we ask that all of our guests are courteous and respectful. Please note that we cannot be responsible for the behavior of other guests.

There is an electronic keypad on the front door for convenient self check-in. Each bedroom also has its own electronic lock for additional peace of mind.

Parking: There is free, on-street parking available. This is very common in Savannah - if you decide to stay downtown, you will have a very hard time finding off-street parking. There is usually ample parking available, but it is first come, first served and there are no reserved spaces. We cannot guarantee parking spaces, or enough space for trailers, U-Hauls, boats, etc. Please be advised of weekly street cleaning - there are signs that indicate which day of the week the street cleaning is, and if you happen to stay during street cleaning, you can just park on the opposite side of the street.

Quiet Hours: This is a residential neighborhood. Please be advised that we ask all guests to respect 10PM quiet hours every night of the week. Any violations may result in a formal report on Airbnb or an early termination of your reservation.

Any unapproved late checkouts may result in additional fees.

There is a $50 shipping fee for any items that you leave behind and need shipped back to you.

You're within walking distance to historic downtown and many Savannah staples, including Fox & Fig, Hitch, Peregrin, and J. Christopher's. Spend the day exploring SCAD buildings, beautiful Savannah squares, or take a tour of the Cathedral, all without a car. A quick 6 minute Uber ride to River Street and about a 25 minute drive to Tybee Island!

I’d recommend this home to anyone looking to come to Savannah to have a great time and experience the city as locally and authentically as possible! If a residential neighborhood filled with art students and families of folks who look differently than you will make you uncomfortable, then I’d recommend a hotel. If things like dust on blinds, leaves on the patio, or scuffs on the stairs are what will determine whether or not you enjoy your stay, I’d also recommend a hotel. It just depends on what you’re looking for as a visitor, and if you’re unsure about what may be the most suitable for you and your needs, we're happy to chat with you at any point to help you determine that!

Savannah, Georgia, United States

The Beach Institute Neighborhood, on the east side of Savannah's Historic District, was developed in the 1850s by investors for the Savannah-Albany Railroad seeking to create housing for their workers. Overall, it was an integrated neighborhood with a strong German presence and black ownership as early as the 1860s. The predominant building type was the double one-story cottage. These cottages are not found anywhere else in Historic Savannah. The streets are tight and homes abut the sidewalk, creating a very urban, city neighborhood atmosphere.

In the 1980s, the King-Tisdell Cottage Foundation and the Historic Savannah Foundation aimed to resist the gentrification and displacement occurring throughout downtown Savannah as a result of the historic preservation movement. The effort was successful, and today is considered a model for conscious historic preservation planning throughout the nation. Because of these initiatives, the established Beach Institute Historic Neighborhood remains the oldest surviving African American neighborhood in Savannah.

Local neighborhood shops and restaurants include:

• Forsyth Park - Just a fifteen minute walk. Make sure you check out the Forsyth Farmer's Market, which takes place every Saturday from 9a.m. to 1p.m.

• Brighter Day Natural Foods Market - Savannah's historic natural foods market has served as an anchor at the south end of Forsyth Park since 1978, offering a wide selection of organic goods, fresh produce, natural foods, and they even have a walk-up deli window serving up tasty sandwiches on the go! An ideal stop for visitors who would like to pack a healthy picnic to enjoy in Forsyth Park

• The Collins Quarter Café - A local Forsyth Park favorite for weekend brunch and mimosas.

• Flannery O'Connor Childhood Home - The Flannery O'Connor Childhood Home is a historic house museum in Savannah, Georgia where American author Flannery O'Connor lived during her childhood. The home, built in 1856, is located at 207 E. Charlton Street in Lafayette Square.

• Cathedral of St. John The Baptist - Dedicated in 1876, this Gothic-style cathedral is the oldest Roman Catholic Church in Georgia, and its twin spires are a local landmark on the Savannah skyline. An excellent example of French Gothic architecture. Elegantly restored, the church is regularly called "breathtaking" and "amazing."

Our listings are primarily in The Starland District here in Savannah, which was dreamed up by two SCAD graduates in the early 1990's. They imagined an artsy, lively neighborhood with a sense of community for the locals and a unique Savannah charm to lure visitors, and they’ve succeeded. Now, The Starland District is home to dozens of small businesses, cafes, breweries, and so much more! This is where all the cool locals hang - we hope you love it as much as we do!
