Situated inside of the classified Douro World Heritage Area, this Estate of 50 ha was reconverted into a country tourism Manor House

The space

Located on the right bank of Douro, nearby the Ferrão's train station, the privileged stretch between Régua and Pinhão, and characterised by schist slopes with excellent sun exposure at an altitude of 170m-220m. This area, known as Veiga do Donelo, was formed by smallholdings in past times (XVI century), which formed in our days one single property, named Quinta da Veiga a producer winery of Port and Douro wines. At the main house there are 7 doubles rooms for welcoming guests, decorated with comfort and stylishness. Inside and outside of the Manor House you can experiment the strong identity and a sense of aesthetic of the owners. The Quinta da Veiga surrounding by wine terraces, the gardens and the swimming pool, benefits from a fantastic landscape over the River Douro.

The Quinta is located in the wine yards. The view over the valley is amazing. The area around there is very quite and a perfect place to relax, have a swim in the pool, or a hike. The owner and their team are extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast, dinner and wine were excellent. Rooms are very clean, spacious and have a perfect view over the valley. I can highly recommend to visit this place.

The location was great to calm down and having a relaxed time within the wineyards. We enjoyed the diner every evening a lot with local, home-made food from our host. Excellent! The view is beautiful all the day. Breakfast is standard but all you need to start the day. We highly can recommend the location.

The views are to die for. The rooms are spacious and all have air-con which is a must in the summer. The pool is great and as the pictures show, offers stunning views of the mountains and Douro river. The road to this stunning homestead is a difficult one. Its very narrow and often hugs the cliff edge so make sure you take it slow as there's not much free space when you pass an oncoming vehicle. The included breakfast is a simple, self-serve continental breakfast and dinners are made by a chef that comes in for the evenings only so a reservation is important. Its very tasty, local, home style cooking and they serve their own red and white wines as well as a local port. Its very reasonably priced and the service is perfect. From the hometead, it takes about 25 minutes to drive into Pinhão where you'll find many Port makers and wineries as well as good lunch spots. Whilst the homestead accepts credit card, many local businesses in the surrounding towns do not, so its good to carry cash.

Lovely hotel in beautifully restored quinta. The location, with swimming pool perched on the side of the hill, surrounded by vines, is phenomenal. The house is a living museum, filled with beautiful objects. Finally the meals were delicious. We had a fantastic time.

This Quinta was amazing! The house itself was fabulous: a blend of old original architecture and new modern conveniences. The decor was eclectic and of creative, artistic sense--a mix of Portuguese and Chinese. The setting of the Quinta was spectacular. Views from the windows, terrace and swimming pool of thr Douro River valley were breathtakingly beautiful. The host took excellent care of us. We enjoyed scrumptious meals for dinner and breakfast, as well as wines of the Quinta da Veiga. We were also allowed to explore the property and spent several hours walking through the vineyard and hillside. This Quinta had a perfect combination of authentic elegance and intimate casual comfort. Highly recommended! (Of note, the drive up is not for the faint of heart...)
