Barley Cottage is set on the South Western edge of the Brecon Beacons. There is a stupendous view from the property’s terrace down the valley to the distant hills where Red Kites are often seen circling. Barley is a fantastically comfortable home with three bedrooms which all have en-suite facilities, has underfloor heating and a log burner. It's peaceful, semi remote with a secure garden for young children and dogs.

The space
Bwlch Tre Banau - Barley Cottage, is part of a small rural enclave of four houses set amidst rolling hills - your nearest shops are five miles away. There are Green lanes (footpaths) either side of the property for you to enjoy. Enormous care has been taken with developing the site and the new owners of Barley have spent the lockdown months improving every aspect. One comes here for peace, to unwind and to say that was so special we are coming back. Jackie and David live next door and can give you tips on where to go - or leave you alone if you so wish. It really is a place to chill!

The owners also have an annex, Wisteria Lodge, attached to the Farmhouse if you wish to invite extended family. This is an extremely comfortable self contained suite with private entrance.

Where you’ll be

Porthyrhyd, Wales, United Kingdom

The nearest town is Llandovery which contains quaint tearooms, boutique shops and a very informative Visitor Centre. In another direction are gold mines and reservoirs, nature reserves and the superb gardens at Aberglasney and Welsh Botanical Gardens. In fact Carmarthenshire is known as the Garden of Wales.

The rugged coast is a 40 minute drive away and a little closer the lovely towns of Llandeilo and Newcastle Emlyn.

We have lots of secure parking and are very dog friendly. We really hope you'll come and relax here.

I moved to this wonderful part of Wales in August 2020 with my partner David. We were drawn to this area by it's beauty. We live in the Farmhouse next door to Barley Cottage so will be available throughout your stay should you need anything. There will be a welcome hamper for you on your arrival, tea, coffee, milk and some little extras too. We live with Missy our wonderful Springer who loves meeting people and other dogs. You may also see our cat Charlie and the little wild cat who has made herself very much at home by the fire!
